My son is in P1 this year. His school has enrichment such as violin class which I would like him to try. Am relieved that he looks forward to attend school.

I admire parents with 2 or more children in schools… My girl started P1 this year and I am finding it a chore to make time for all the revision and assessment work… because of my long hours of work plus entertainment n leisure etc… have to constantly coach them, encourage them to read etc, no joke!! And now I think it is impt to make learning more fun so now I am finding ways… any parents pls contribute some ideas. Thanks!

My gal started P1 this year too. It is a chore and a torture having to slot in time for her to learn spelling and 听写. She brought home 听写 list yesterday but there was no mention when it will be tested. Have to give her 2 days to learn spelling (10 words). Also include time for grammar, vocab, compre, Math and Chinese. She is not really used to P1 yet...the longer hours in school make her very tired...BTW, she is still sleeping and refusing to get up.

My son entered P1 this year too. He sleeps at 930pm and wakes up at 545am. He needs a 3 hour (3 to 6pm) nap too. Not much time left after he wakes up at 6pm to do HW. Worse on days when he has tuition and enrichments. 😞

Cant imagine as days go by when he has more HW from school...

My girl is in pm session. Sleeps around 11pm but I am urging her to be in bed by 10.30pm. She wakes up 8.30am and we leave home around 9.30am-10am to her nanny’s place…

She normally does her school homework at night after dinner and bath… and will do my assigned work after that. But I realized she is much more alert and focused in the morning.

She didn’t cope well at all in the beginning. Cried and cried and even had nightmare the 1st night of school… even when i visited her during recess, she also couldn’t stop crying for me.

                  This week she’s slightly better…

primary school is a BIG change for our kids, a lot different from the kindergarten or child care that they are used to.

Bigger compound, bigger buildings, more people, more rooms, need to be more independent etc etc

just reassure them, and they will adapt very fast.

you might want to consider cutting short the nap time to 15min (power nap) or none at all. Compensate by sleeping earlier in the evening.
