Same for my ds school. He is in Sec 2 now already clocked close to 200 hrs of CIP. He joined many activities, not just for the CIP hours but some of them happened to give CIP hours.
there's a lot considering yr son is only in sec 2 now....
as for some of the CIP activities, my gal can't participate becos there is a min age of 14 and above.......
so by sec2, she would have more choices
wonder where he got so much time to spent and what activities did he participate ? -

CIP is a small portion of the total CCA, to achieved A1 or A2 CCA is a must specially if your present the school for any competition
that's right, max only 5 points of the total CCA

CIP is a commitment for the students to enable them to contribute to the society. Although it's compulsory, many students have a sense of achievement after doing these community work. Hence, schools emphasize on doing CIP work.Haha, this is e contradicting part. CIP are community work and suppose to be voluntary mah, yet its compulsory to clock no of hours.

And for ip schools, not much to worry abt the 2 points but yet its compulsory. Maybe to prepare for uni? Nowadays applying for scholarship don't simply based on results. I find its a good programe in general but i am not in favour of certain activities. -

So the school only count the CIP hours that you do starting from Sec 1 or can we start now? (I'm P6)
Only when you are Sec 1 - You are really on the Ball! Which Sec school are you planning to go to? By the way, you should try to gather the CIP hours in lower Sec.
For my sec school, dunno larh, see my marks first! TY

wonder where he got so much time to spent and what activities did he participate ?[/quote]At the beginning of the year, we advised DS to complete his 10 hours CIP yearly requirement ASAP since the real activities hadn't started. So he took up 2 events and completed his 10 hours during term 1. Later on, he joined the council which there were many activities that gave him CIP. And his project also entitled him to some CIP. Even the sabbatical he picked also gave him CIP + those compulsory CIP organized by school, he clocked a lot more than we expected. From my last post till now, he clocked a few more hours so up-to-date he should have over 100 CIP hours. -
Any sec 1 students next year have any idea what to do for CIP? Pls share!

Your school will let you know when there is a CIP opportunity. If you are interested, then just sign it up. -
Depends on school though. My school only notifies us about flag day events. Other cip, we have to search ourselves. Usually people go to the library. xD

Surprise to hear that you've to search for CIP activities yourself and not from the school.
So will the library CIP be on waiting list since most pupils go there? -
