Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

hi Luanee
Is that the reason why you put her in a girls school now ?
-
ha...
tx for yr valuable advice.
my kids' kindergarten is 20mins drive away. so unlikely will meet any of their classmates in pri sch.
um.. yr girl's bf... in k2. so funny. my girl is in puppy love stage. just kept staring at the boy's pic. ha.
another frd just told me last nt. no pt keeping in girl's sch. she will still be exposed later on in sec sch, pre-u, it will be worse. expose her. so she will not caught off hand later on.. sounds cool & true rt?

hi Jass
This I kind of support you cos last time I was in girls school and behave very tomboyishly, then suddenly go to JC, culture shock  cos see boys and did not know how to become lady like until after Uni.
The good thing is can really focus on study in sec school cos less distraction (in terms of BGR) -
Lucky, that’s not the main reason actually. We put her in a girls school becoz that was the only school which accepted our PV application. The other co-ed schools which we applied all rejected us! LOL.
Jass, my girl even tried to explain to me ‘fen shou’ is ‘break off’, as if I dont understand ?! I am not so worried about getting shock or what later on in life as I have quite a lot of girl friends from girls pri schools and all of them got along fine in JC and Uni. -
Luanee:
Jass, my girl was talking about breaking off with boyfriend-number-dunno-what in K2 too...
boyfriend double-0-seven? No wonder J. Bond is so grouchy these days in his movies. -

Your girl so maturedha...

Don't think my P1 girl has fallen for any boy although there are some friendly boys following her around since K1.
My girl kanna brainwashed by me, I've been telling her prince charming will be few years older so can't be your classmates who are of the same age, hence she's not considering them :xedfingers:
I prefer co-ed. Same reasoning as your friend. Let her get used to boys so won't treat boys differently from girls. All can be friends, regardless of gender. -
frankly i used to be worried last time. if go girls’ sch. bring hm a same sex partner. "mom, meet my Fran (unisex name for boy & girl)". i will faint. heart be broken.
my hubby used to study next to a convent sch. the girls outright and outspoken, tell him they like him. throw themselves at him. (he’s rather charming then…but again, no fish, prawn also good right?)
tat’s why he’s prejudiced against IJs. Sorry to all ex-IJs mommies, no offence ah… i am referring to that grp of girls only… not talking abt u girls…definitely not talking abt u!
thousand apologies… -

Hi,
I am a old boy of Nan Hua and I really want to put my daughter there but I am currently living with my in laws in Tampines which is within 1km of St. Hilda's. I also have a choice in putting her in Kong Hwa as my registered address is also within 1km of Kong Hwa. Even though both St. Hilda and Kong Hwa is within 1km of my In Laws and my own place, I am afraid that even with PV I might not even get a place in phase 2B as both are very hot schools. PV is not even 100% even if I apply for one.
My safest choice is my old school Nan Hua, not because I am an old boy but judging from the academic results, NHP beats both St. Hilda and KH hands down in terms of overall cohort academic performance which has been consistent for the past 10 yrs.
But the problem is that I am living in Tampines and the school is in Clementi. Is the distance a major detrimental factor and I also not so sure if any private school bus will ferry her to and fro Tampines and Clementi.
Can anyone advise? -
YES! Distance is the ultimate factor…
If morning session what time to wake up to get ready?
And by the time all the children are home and done
with homework, yours may still be in the school
transport… So poor thing to travel everyday to and
fro like that… just my honest opinion.
PM session?
I cannot picture how hungry child will be by the time
he/she is home… mine comes back by abt 30mins by
transport and is already a hungry ghost! -
hmm is moving house an option? Tampines to Clementi is very far for a child to travel even if a school bus does go all the way there, the poor kid will have to wait for the school bus very early …imagine how early he will need to wake up and get ready?
