Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

Luanee:
Yes, I agree with Luanee.Jass,
U are still very undecided on ur locations. That be opened up to so many possibilities, difficult to make any decision. Basically u are covering all the way from east to west! As I said earlier, best to decide where u want to stay first, then zoom in a nearby school from there. Else ur headache wont stop...
.
Months before my boy was due for registration last year, i faced the same problem. My ILs were discussing about moving to the Simei, then to Woodlands, Yew Tee, then to Bukit Panjang then to Jurong East. To them, school is not a priority. To us it is. But circumstances forbid us to move out as yet. Everytime they went to view a prospective apartment, i have to source for information regarding the schools there. The undecided location is one of the reasons (not sole reason, as i am also quite lazy and have to handle a todd), I didn't managed to do PV for my first choice school which is the nearest co-ed school to my place. Ended up, we stay put. Prices of properties are still not low enough. We settled for my second choice neighbourhood school (next nearest) and my boy is pretty happy there.
So...decide fast! -
Thank you mommies.
Ya. you re right. we re really undecided.
near inlaw’s place is gd. cos mil cooks. but they watch too much tv. hubby doesnt like.
probably, we will keep to the east. then. my husband office also in the east. so it will be gd too.
tx mommies. u help me eliminate all the unnecessary roundabouts.
appreciate!
btw co-ed schs no prob? now my girl starts to like her classmate, in k2. i cant imagine in pri sch. initially wanted haigs girls cos heard they creative. anybody has ideas if it is true? i told hubby let’s keep to co-ed cos save trouble. he sighed. -

Actually if you put your kids in a school near your place and your kids go the nearby kindergarden, you will find that a lot of their classmates will go to that school and they can find their friends again. My girl went to a neighbourhood school this year and two of her classmates from K2 were there, so she was very happy and had recess with them almost everyday. Especially if your girl is shy, this helps..Thank you mommies.

Jass, my girl was talking about breaking off with boyfriend-number-dunno-what in K2 too. She is now P1 in a girls school. Not sure how much that would help…
-
hi Luanee
Is that the reason why you put her in a girls school now ?
-
ha...
tx for yr valuable advice.
my kids' kindergarten is 20mins drive away. so unlikely will meet any of their classmates in pri sch.
um.. yr girl's bf... in k2. so funny. my girl is in puppy love stage. just kept staring at the boy's pic. ha.
another frd just told me last nt. no pt keeping in girl's sch. she will still be exposed later on in sec sch, pre-u, it will be worse. expose her. so she will not caught off hand later on.. sounds cool & true rt?

hi Jass
This I kind of support you cos last time I was in girls school and behave very tomboyishly, then suddenly go to JC, culture shock  cos see boys and did not know how to become lady like until after Uni.
The good thing is can really focus on study in sec school cos less distraction (in terms of BGR) -
Lucky, that’s not the main reason actually. We put her in a girls school becoz that was the only school which accepted our PV application. The other co-ed schools which we applied all rejected us! LOL.
Jass, my girl even tried to explain to me ‘fen shou’ is ‘break off’, as if I dont understand ?! I am not so worried about getting shock or what later on in life as I have quite a lot of girl friends from girls pri schools and all of them got along fine in JC and Uni. -

boyfriend double-0-seven? No wonder J. Bond is so grouchy these days in his movies. -

Don't think my P1 girl has fallen for any boy although there are some friendly boys following her around since K1.
My girl kanna brainwashed by me, I've been telling her prince charming will be few years older so can't be your classmates who are of the same age, hence she's not considering them :xedfingers:
I prefer co-ed. Same reasoning as your friend. Let her get used to boys so won't treat boys differently from girls. All can be friends, regardless of gender.
