amongst so many Science topics covered - which topic(s) you feel relatively the easiest to comprehend, which topic(s) more challenging ?

At P3 - In terms of exams, pupils usually have problem with Magnet.
At P4 - Matter, followed by heat then light.
At P5 - Systems tend to be easiest. Electricity
At P6 - get confused between the potential energies and the forces.

personally, i feel that my boy's weakness is Materials.
he is pretty ok at magnets as so long can determine what properties of magnet the question is targeting at, the answer is almost standard (i feel).
it is materials that is difficult and depends how well-versed the kid is in the various properties of different materials (some kids mix strength with hardness etc, and when asked to name reasons why PersonX chose certain materials, have to choose the correct property based on the scenerio and write clearly and compare). MHO.

        Hi everyone

I desperately need help in searching for good & reliable PSLE Science assessment books for my DS next year 2012.

        Also:

Any tips for scoring PSLE Science paper?

Any recommendations for good Science tuition or enrichment centres?

        Thank you
        :imdrowning:
Where is your child's weakness? Is he/she alright with Section A? Or is Section B the main problem?

actually sometimes it really depends on the child. For eg, my P3 son, his weakness is actually anything got to do with plant!!! Cos he doesn't like plant.

Materials, ya, looks like hardness and strength is a common problem. Let's see if this helps:

Hardness/softness - how the material withstand being scratched. Metal is hard. Rubber is soft.

          Strength (strong/weak) - how easy/difficult a material will break.

            Hi mama diva,
Honestly, I'm :imdrowning: too...don't know what to expect next year either. Other than info/advice from parents of kids this year in KSP, I don't have any idea.

I'm presently using this P5/6 Teachers' Circle as revision. What I like is the explanation given for each MCQ as well as the breakdown of marks for answers in open-ended section. The other assessment I'm using is the MCQ published by Just Education (Jesslyn Poh).
A friend of mine recommended this title.

                    Hi G Tan,
Thanks for informing. Friend recommended me...but didn't get it because I have sufficient assessment for Science.

                      Hi Janet

I bought a lot of assessment for my boy too and when his tutor wants me to get this title I asked if he can make do with those which I bought but he strongly recommends this book too.

He mention that all assessments have it's flaws but he feels that overall this assessment book has some very good questions set.

                      All the best.

this book sounds a bit controversial โ€ฆ

                        hi G Tan,

from this book, may i know which area or what are some qns that sound silly & ridiculous ?

                        hi annamom,
did yr friend happen to mention any example of what sort of very good questions set ?

Thank you, to both important feedback.

Yes, i did receive feedback that one has to be careful, thread cautiously with assorted Science assessment books flooding the market, as some answers inside might be wrong. But then, iโ€™m not sure which book contain unacceptable answers for psle.
