Where is bookfest held? Suntec? So fast got info already?

I went several times to different Popular before getting Lower Sec Sci Study Notes (A & B) from Expo. Each book about $15. Should have gotten them earlier, now already finished CA1 & SA1.
Bookfest is held at Suntec around Nov every year.
Some Science reference books like Everything (Patricia Chan) may have prices halved during Bookfest. Will get my son's P5 assessment books end of the year and daughter's P1 Chinese assessment books after I've registered her for P1.

This is the one. There is \"Revised\" word on the cover. The old version is not for sale anymore. In Popular, pls check whether you are entitled to the 20% (voucher from the magazine if you are member). If not, I think Expo today last day @$19.90 each. But on Fri when I went to Expo, about noon, only left a few pieces each theme, unless they replenish the stock.
        Hi caroline3sg

        Thanks for the info!

Ok, mine is P3 going P4. Just my 2cents worth:

If your child is using MyPals, this is a good supplement to the textbooks :

          http://resource.marshallcavendish.com/mcdoc/bookfiles/jacket/Big/9789810114022.jpg\">

Besides understanding the facts & concepts, the child must be able to spell the keywords (to avoid losing marks for wrong spelling) correctly and answer fully. Example, there are questions which shows 2 pictures : 1 is a chick with a water dish, 1 is just a chick. Question asks, which one will survive longer and why. If answer is 'It has water', you get 1/2 mark. Answer is 'Chick needs water to survive and chick A has water', you get 1 mark. These are the tricky areas that we have to point out to the child.

I use assessment books & revision papers by Janet Sim. There are revision notes infront of each chapter which I will tear out and file and get my child to highlight or add additional notes along the way. My friend likes Casco assessments too but I haven't had a chance to check them out. I usually don't buy too many as there's not enough time to complete them all.

Lastly, do not give or throw away any of your Science textbooks or notes at the end of P3. P3-P6 Science will be tested in PSLE so in P4, they'll still get some questions on the topics they learnt in P3.

          Hope this helps.
any other parent using this? value for the $?
saw it today, i think retailing at $32 per book.

            Hi jedamum

You may wish to find out if the book is available in this second hand bookstore.

            Evernew Book Store

I bought this book as well as Book B (upp primary). This book has colourful illustrations, that's all. It's a good starter for those going to P3 and get them interested in Science. Doesn't have much useful information. I used this assessment book 'Primary 3/4 Conquer Science' by Vicki Wong (SAP) for revision and this guide book 'Primary 3/4 Science Partner: A Complete Guide To Lower Block Science 3/4' by Angeline Tan for reference.

Like what cafelatte mentioned, the child must be able to spell keywords to get that full mark and compare if the question asks for advantages between 2 items. The child must make clear comparisons.

Do not give or throw away any Science textbooks/reference books at the end of P4 either...at P5, children will still need to remember the basics.

                  Hi BigDad

I am not sure, I usually go there to buy school textbooks.

You may want to give them a call to find out more.

                  Best wishes

wa...your answer in bold can save me some $ already. πŸ˜‰
i did a quick browse and find that the EPH ultimate guide is much 'friendlier' to study as compared to the $32 book. i find the latter's colourful illustration a bit distracting (maybe i am trying to justify not buying that book! hahaha).
will check out SAP's guide then. Thanks!

There is another 2ndhand bookstore (run by an Indian family) I visit at Bras Basah Complex, think at level 3 or 4. The one that faces the escalator sells sec sch books, their other store (same level, round the corner, next to a Chinese bookstore) has pri sch books.

If you tell the bookstore staff what you need, they can find for you.
