Thanks … If really no choice guess have to get from amazon… But they don’t have the 5 yo range, hope the 7yo range will not be too difficult for DS

        insider,

If you intend to buy KNEX for childcare centers, note that the parts in the sets that I recommended are very small, not suitable for young kids who tend to swallow things. The recommended age is 8+ for those sets. I bought for my boy when he just turned 6 years old because we don't have younger kids around.

KNEX has other sets for younger kids :

Hi tamarind, you mention that the parts are very small, and I read reviews in amazon also mentioning that. My DS is 4yo. Do you think it is suitable for him as in will it be too difficult to fix the parts together ? How small are the parts for the sets you have ? Since I would like to leave him alone to play with the parts I don't want him to end up losing them or coming up to me asking for help all the time.

The beginner education tub seems to be bigger pc but the 7yo value tub I think contain small parts. Sorry I can't figure out how to insert the URL.

We have the GeoTrax train system :

          http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=5750&e=products

The quality is very good, and the pieces are big, suitable for 3 years old. It is sold in local department stores.

If you buy more train tracks, the child can think of new designs to construct. It is a good introduction to construction toys.
          Hi Tamarind,
http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=900000&e=storeproduct&pn=L9183&site=us is this the extra train tracks?

it is cheaper to get the set locally or at http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-GeoTrax-Control-Timbertown-Railway/dp/B001W1YG56/ref=sr_1_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1315933659&sr=1-1 ?

          thanks.

            Hi seashell,
I bought my geo trax locally. Note that shipping form amazon can cost more than the price of the toy, I normally buy from them only if I cannot find it locally. You can try Takashimaya or Robinsons.

I may be selling my old set of geo trax soon 😉

                seashell,

I don't remember seeing this set in Singapore yet so I cannot compare:

How old is your child ? I highly recommend KNEX but these are suitable for 7 and above, though my boy played with them when he was 5 to 6 years old.

                  Hi Tamarind,

what’s the price range for the set you currently own so that I can take as reference.

4yrs old. i will be getting KNEX. thanks for the recommendation.

are there any other toys that are worth to buy from amazon?

                  thanks again.

                    Hi seashell,

I bought my set during a warehouse sale at $99 a few years ago.

Check the age when selecting KNEX, the more complicated sets have very small pieces, not suitable for children. Lego is suitable for 4 years old but since shipping is expensive, it is better to buy in Singapore.

My kids like ZOOB, but it is more suitable for 5 to 6 years old children.

You can check out this list of toys with high Toy IQ ratings:
                    http://www.fatbraintoys.com/specials/toy_iq_180.cfm

Remember to check the target age of the toy before purchasing.

At the moment, there’s no distributor in Singapore for KNEX. I asked a favour from my fren who was returning from US to buy a set for me.

                        You can try amazon.
