        Cascada,

Talk about long life…MIL is 71 and still kicking alive and active to move about. She has 3 sons…her mouth says eldest son very impt but yet doesn’t want to stay with him. Actually she is not welcomed there.
There was once she had a problem with her youngest son, made herself drunk and tell everyone not to mention it. But she herself called the son to tell him how miserable and all the sob sob tales.

Actually tradition doesn’t count. Even if eldest son wants to take both in, they have preferences.

            Cascada,

Your son is 10? Mine is also 10 this year…like yours, very good at asking for things. A nurse told me that the Nintendo DS or PSP will be a great source of ‘companion’ after his operation to repair the missing jaw. This way, he won’t feel the discomfort at the pelvis area.

                mathsparks:
The eldest dil cant get along with mil, while the 3rd one, hastily rented out 2 of his rooms.

                😞

                And the hubby let her?
                cascada:
Mine has 2 bros, yet everyone expected us to care for il since dh is eldest and we lived the nearest to them. I've no problem with dh fulfilling his duties but mil has her preference.
                mathsparks:
Now that's one thing I cant figure out. Does tradition say ils stay with oldest or youngest son. :?
Eldest pick up after everyone right? :?
                Youngest most pampered? 😉
                cascada:
1 brother moved back home after 10 yrs of staying with il on weekdays cos wanted mil to care for his daughters and cook & wash for his family. When his children are older and more independent, they moved back & sil turn SAHM. My mil was so heartbroken she nearly went into depression. That few months after they moved back, she teared each time anyone mentioned them and also sobbed in the night.
                mathsparks:
sad indeed. Even I would be heartbroken.

In my case, we hired a maid from day1 to look after babe and I worked subsequently part-time. So maid cleaned and cooked and mil never have to lift a finger. We even told her she's free to visit her other sons. And I left my dd alone with the maid..back in those days when there weren't such things as webcams.
                mathsparks:
So, dh and I can safely say that we've never made use of her; though his brothers felt that as our kids are grown and we've no use for her, we're kicking her out. :x
                :hugs: mathsparks..
                cascada:
My DS is already 10yo, not sure if how he will be taking this ops, but he sure know how to 'blackmail' me by making me promise to give him this and that after the ops. So much for an angel. :faint:
Hi cascada, am happy to hear things worked out by itself anyway. 😉
Guess your doubts were unfounded and you were 'heard' through your
sharings.. the stars are on your side. 😄 Hope the op goes smoothly &
that your son has a fast recovery.

PS : Wah.. 'blackmail' is a big word on a 10yr old. :!:

Yup, this nurse is part of the cleft group. I was at KK a lot when my son was a bb.

Youngest is always the pampered and spoilt one. My eldest SIL and I had to tolerate MIL's nonsense but not youngest DIL. In fact, the youngest son brings his clothes to his mummy dearest to iron every week and then bring them home...you know, like as in after dry-clean.
I asked hubby how come she cannot be given a set of keys there. Strangely, she didn't ask for keys to her youngest son's house but asked hubby for keys to my house.

                    Right on janet_lee88… …youngest most pampered…

My DH- middle child grew up tagging along the older bro and taking care of younger one. Now grown up liao, become Mr Payer. Pay for didi car, education air fares, gambling debts etc… MIL only requires DS for this function, oh yah, also to appear beside her at ‘show’ times.

Hubby here also 2nd son...bullied by 2 younger siblings. Be at their beck and call. Do laundry when mother is in Malaysia, mop floor and cook noodles or buy meals for them. When we were dating, his sickening sister can call him to go back and fetch her to some place bcos she is late :x Or else that younger brother will wear the clothes I bought. So happy he moved out of that flat and away from their bullying after we got married.

Let's hope as parents or ILs in future more will treat their kiddos fairly, at least try ler.. ..

Having to sit thru diner with table full of younger BIL's favorite dishes, and to watch MIL put roast pork into DH plate (because other relatives are watching) and then hear DS tell his mum: I don't eat roast pork.. ...I feel  for my MIL...'big small eye' not enough to describe this....
