no point changing in laws.. they are already old and nothing u do will change their minds... i would rather try to change dh's mindset... it would be easier...

my mil knows i wun eat if i caught her leaving food on the table without covering them... she used to cook more during lunch and leave the food on the table all the way till dinner...

because of that, i always take a snack or eat with colleague before going back... this will ensure i wun hv to depend on the food \"quality\" that is made for the dinner...
:hi5: I can relate to this. I also snack before heading MIL home for dinner last time. She would ask how come I eat sooooooo little 😂 DH kept quiet 🆒
Sometimes it's not just leaving food outside for soooo long, it's the same food eaten over days!!

MIL do not wash their butter knife (for butter, jam, mayonaise etc). They would use and place it back into fridge on top of the magarine tub repeated.
Raw food can be placed next to it uncovered..... Tried telling her to change that bad habit, no use. So I wash it everytime before using and instructed maid to wash before using it for my kids. When MIL came to stay with us, she insisted on her way. I refused to bulge....open fridge see it there, I took it out. She would put back, I will take out....then she can't find in fridge, put back again.... After a while, she gave up 😉

luckily ur mil gave up, if not, u will hear from dh \"dun make my mum angry la...\" my dh always say that in the past...

every mother, be it even us, have their own way of doing... not to say whose ways are better, but nothing happens to ur dc doesnt mean nothing will happen to dgc (dear grand child)...

the h1n1 few yrs back, was ridiculous... i moved out of the hse to a vacant hse offered by a kind friend to get away from my in laws... my sil got h1n1 first... much as i told mil that they got to stay away from her and blah blah blah.. they blame me instead for discrimination... i got so angry after 2 days and move out.. later fil got h1n1, and then another sil... and finally mil also got... good la... whole family go have fun with birds...

Yeah…agree most elderly people do not pay attention to food hygiene be it preparation or storage. My in-laws eat straight from the serving dishes and soup bowl. They do not use serving spoons. I always cringe when I see everyone’s spoons dunking into the big soup bowl. Eeeek! Sometimes, I bochap and scoop small bowls of soup for ourselves and my kids. Can’t have my kids eating everyone’s saliva!!!

Once I caught my MIL loosening up the pot of rice with her chopsticks that she was using halfway through her meal at the table. FAINT!!!

that's a very common problem.. mine also drink from the same bowl... much as i love soup, i stop drinking anymore...

u will be disgusted to know that the whole family doesnt wash cups... my fil will take a cup and pour water to drink, after which he will leave the cup next to the jug of water... next my sil goes to kitchen and conveniently take the same cup and pour water and drink, leaving the same cup next to water jug.. the cycle goes on and on until my ds1 is awake, my mil will use that same cup, pour water and bring it to him... wah biang... :stupid: :stupid:

Hubby refused to believe me when I said she acts angelic in front of him. Now that she told him curtly she rather die than cut down on smoking, he finally believed me. Otherwise, he thinks I paint an ugly pic of his mother.

The 2 old ones eat economy rice from downstairs…both sharing one box of food. No difference from Thai workers who stinge on food so as to buy liquor.
If they have health problems, that is going to be a BIG issue bcos money is involved.

may be too late to say, but its better to buy insurance for them than to wait for problems to come...

when it comes to money issue, dun they have other kids to share the burden?

Maybe your in-laws think eating one another's saliva will be 亲上加亲? 😂
