By the way, how does the coupon works? They email you a coupon and you print it out yourself to redeem at the merchant. What control is there if you buy 1 coupon but print a few to redeem? How does the merchant verify?

Each coupon will have a unique identification number. When presented to the merchant, they will go through their list to make sure it is a valid coupon. Once found in their list, the will check it off so that you cannot print a second piece and use it again.

This is easy control when there is only one outlet. Not sure how they control for places like Subway where you can use your coupon at several outlets.

I see. Is it possible to change the identification number since it's just a printed copy? Is it possible for someone to change the duplicate to your number and redeem it before you?

The numbers are non-sequential, non-running numbers. It was randomly generated. So despite buying 2 coupons at the same time, the numbers are so different that you can't deduce what the next one will be.

The ramen place I mentioned checked against the number as well as your name, which wasn't printed on the coupon.

yes i agree the deals for food sometimes can be a steal! Like that time have the BK burger damn cheap…

but do read the fine prints yes cos i was quite excited to see the subway sandwiches on sale but realised the joints are so far away from my office. also the expiry dates may be very near like 1 month from purchase.

Ya the serial number and your name and email will be given to the merchant for verification purposes...

I have friends bought quite a few spa coupons but didn't use it in time and they all expired!! So don't be too excited and start buying those you might not have time to use... check the validity date ya...
