Ha Ha ....
True, that's how I was being forced to learn about \"unit transfers\" for maths. :lol:Brenda10:
yalor, since the schools implement \"teach less\"
somehow..... someone..... has to take over right ??haha
Can U Believe It, I Learnt about this Term Barely 2 Months Ago, Just Before CA1 .... And My Gal in P6
Nevertheless, we are still hardworking mum lah. Ha Ha, seems like this method is DIY and the intention is to make our ageing brain exercise lah. -

Hi JanetHi Brenda,
My brain just cannot 'accept' math no matter how I read...even for science, that chapter 'electricity' under systems makes me fall asleep. Think I have this prob called selected learning.
Is also not easy for me lah. As for Science, I would get dd to read through question and answer key. I choose the simple job that is to mark the MCQ that she has done. -

Me too! Spent 2 nights learning it! Then realized that hey, so this is the way to solve all those questions that seem easy when u read, but very difficult to solve type of questions! But this is ridiculous! Sch spent so much time teaching the core/basic methods, yet exam expects students to be able to solve questions requiring unit method that is inadequately covered in sch. I sympathize with those students whose parents are those not numerically inclined ones ...
True. Is not easy to do well in the exam if the children are not exposed to various methods (branching, unit transfer etc) or those top school papers. -

Yes, we can understand. :hugs:It is possible that only P5 and P6 parents can understand me... The gap between exam requirements and school teaching (or lack thereof) becomes really obvious in P5 and P6.

Hi Chenonceau,
Very well said. I hope the people (gar men) get to read your post. You write really very well. -

I can relate with you on that one. I first noticed the problem when my kid was in P3, it is more obvious in P4. The difficulty level of the exam questions and the work problems that were done in class were of a different category. I did query the form teacher of this discrepancy, and the answer was that the school needed to seperate the exceptional students from the average ones and those difficult problems were designed to do the job.Happy Mama:

This would be unfair to double income families who does not have the financial means to afford enrichment or tuition classes for the various subjects. We are indeed forced to be a nation of tuition depdent students by MOE's policies.
Well, parents, this is election year and all policy issues, including MOE's are up for discussion with your favourite MPs.

:? Why cannot google? Sometimes she asks Science questions like How, Why, When etc, and I am not able to answer lah, so the only way to get the answer will be to google...
Happy Mama, I was only pulling your leg. :imsorry: No need to be  we all have to google no choice :hugs:
No kidding happy mama, google not allowed lah. While your cute Z is bakink you fluffy pillows, you should be sitting with the science guide book. The rest of us are working so hard( no time to even  over your e breads), not fair, not fair.tisha:

Unfortunately, I ain't any \"walking encyclopedia\" and whatever I learnt during school days, not all I can remember. So whenever I cannot answer her questions, I will google for the answer.

But I still feel that google/(or reading information books) should be to gain additional knowledge on the subject. The fundamentals and answers to the related Qs should be found in the prescribed text books followed by schools, which unfortunately is not the case. -

Yup..... and such scenario will carry on till sec school

but at least for sec sch onwards...... i can lay my hands off.
