      Hi

My dd1 also in p1 this yr. I am a sahm. She is in a girls school.Outside school, she has piano, art, swimming and Chinese. I also let her play most days as she is only p1. Girls like to compare, always come back and tell me who and who got this, and that. My boy cannot be bothered with such things at all. She loves art but come to math, a bit tough for her, had some funny moments when teaching her about 'Money"

        HI Breadandmuffins,

wow your dd is quite bz girl.

well same story with my daughter when teach her money. sometimes she directly subtract cents from dollars.

had to teach her to convert dollars to cents before she can subtract. some are due to silly careless mistakes.

there was a question which was like \" mary had two 50 cent coins. she bought a candy and got three 20 cent coins as balance. How much did the candy cost?\"

She directly subtract 20 cent from 50 and said that the answer is 30 cent.
she never read slowly that the original amount was two 50 cent. 🤷

        money in the beginning, two 50 cents = 50 + 50 = 100 cents
        balance = three 20 cent coins= 20 + 20 + 20 = 60 cents

        cost of candy = total - spent = 100 - 60 = 40 cents..

took her some time to avoid this mistakes..

            ya,

agree with LOLMum, P2 will be a different ball games with CA & SA.

this year, have given DS1 a relax time thinking as long as he is enjoying school and understand what is going on and have no problem understanding his school work. So far so good except for his Chinese, has taken up Chinese tuition as he has failed in it as his mummy don't know how to teach him well  Other than Chinese problem, need to brush up his handwriting during Dec holi, it is getting from bad to worse & I am getting real annoyed with his messy handwriting. Going to come up with some reward chart for him and hope he can improve on his handwriting during the school holiday.

parents, have any ideas from holiday programs?

planning to take kids out by taking bus and mrt instead of driving.

have a few places in mind like haw par villa (still around right?), the flower show at marina (open to public right?), haha didnt do much readup on them yet,  sota (for a walk) and museum and library (all within walking distant to each other with covered areas and so many food stalls , thus can spend whole day there without spending a bomb).

probably ask dd to teach me to bake a simple cake (very bad cook myself) and just relax at home.

oh yeah, must remember to buy school books........

                    Hi everyone!

Firstly, a Happy New Year greetings to all.
I am new here. And is looking to get more info and advise from this site.

Can I ask a question? A child of 2004, whether or not he is a January or December baby, does he qualify to enter P2 in 2012? What about P3 (assuming that his grades qualify for enrollment)?

                    Please advise. Thank you.

                      hi iwonder

are your child Singaporean? If he or she is Singaporean, he should be in Primary 2 this year. But if foreigner, from my understanding, need some assessment.

Hi, children born between 2 January 2005 and 1 January 2006 (both dates inclusive) participated in the 2011 Primary One Registration Exercise for admission to Primary One Classes in 2012.

In other words, children born between 2 January 2004 and 1 January 2005 (both dates inclusive) are P2 in 2012. Children born between 2 January 2003 and 1 January 2004 (both dates inclusive) are P3 in 2012.
