      psle2011mum:
      As CA1 rounds the corner, I just want to say to the P6 parents that:

      (a) the papers can be extra hard [aka \"wake up call\" style, extra easy aka \"serve to encourage\" style or fair [we've experienced all three]; but whatever the paper, whatever the results - look beyond the kid's grade and look at your kid -- address his/her needs - the score on his/her paper only tells you a quantitative mark;

      (b) after the results, whether your child has done well or not, that's not as important as helping your child overcome his/her weaknesses [academic/habits/traits]; after all, even if you are just looking at the final score, CA1 is not the PSLE [ the race is not over yet] and helping your child overcome a weakness gives your child a victory to motivate them to push on throughout life, even when the going gets tough and naysayers abound;
      Hi psle2011mum,
      Thank you for the encouragement.
      I doubt schools will set easy CA1 for P6...many will set papers to WAKE the kids to REALITY. In fact, my son told me this CL paper will include compo :faint: After all these years of having tough CA/SA papers thrown at us, I'm kinda immune.
      Told my son PSLE is very important but that doesn't mean CA1 isn't. So, he still has to put in effort and have the right attitude.

        Our kids’ education is up to US, the parents to coach and manage. Then their results, especially those cream of the crop will be used to boast to the world how good our education system is.

        MOE puts 40 kids in a class from P3 onwards, then have a teacher there. But can the teacher help the kids to pass exams ? No, definitely not…how to, when the class is so big ? So parents, pls find your way.
        We produce kids bcos it is seen as our ‘JOB’…then nurture them till they are grown up. Then at 18, the govt takes our boys for 2 years to do NS.

          Hi Parents,

          Son brought home this form 2 days ago to allow withdrawal of Edusave for some stuff…one of the items are the 4 booklets of the PSLE past year papers. There is one other item which I have to make a cheque for…one book for problem sums $10. Wonder who is the publisher.

            I think there are a few publishers who are given the rights to publish the PSLE past papers.

              Hooray for parents!

              If you are one, give yourself a big hug :grphug: - you really deserve it.

              If you know one, give them a big hug too - they really have a great responsibility on their hands and could do with some cheering on :rahrah:

              As CA1 rounds the corner, I just want to say to the P6 parents that:

              (a) the papers can be extra hard [aka \"wake up call\" style, extra easy aka \"serve to encourage\" style or fair [we've experienced all three]; but whatever the paper, whatever the results - look beyond the kid's grade and look at your kid -- address his/her needs - the score on his/her paper only tells you a quantitative mark;

              (c) If your child is disappointed after the CA1 results, don't give up on your child - there will still be 7 months more to make amends; analyse his/her weaknesses, support with the right resources and teachers [from wherever - tutor/relative/classmate/parent/school] and praise and encourage efforts.

              I've seen the best of kids crumbling under expectations [sometimes their parents' but also many times, their own], so the right word from a parent, the right response from the parent, makes a lot of difference to them.

              Have a great week ahead everyone!
              Thanks so much for the motivations!!
              Still learning how to be a better cheerleader :rahrah:
              and manage DD's frustrations.

              After an impressive start where she scored highly for some class work in Jan, she took a beating this week and she's been acting out in frustration. Told her it's part of the learning journey and it's good that she is facing this now rather than later.

              She has to learn to manage setbacks use them to spur her on rather than kill her spirit. With CA1 coming soon, we will have more \"opportunities\" to manage them??? 😓

                My son’s FT just returned after 3 weeks MC. Thank goodness my son has Math tuition…as it is, I am worried about the WAKE-UP for this CA1. Told my son I want to see effort and right attitude put in. Any CA/SA this year won’t be easy but he has to learn from mistakes and not repeat.

                SAP also printing past year PSLE exam questions…selling very cheap ($1.80) at Popular but answer booklets sold separately at $2…anyway, no need to buy since school will do mass order for students.
