PSLE 2012:
6 more months to go for PSLE!!!!! :yikes: Good Luck!!

Hi everyone,
Yes, the heat is on! Have stepped up my DS's revision efforts. Put up a daily schedule etc. Hopefully it works! Good luck to all. To borrow Obama's initial presidential campaign cry, \"Yes, we can!\"

The heat is indeed ON 😓
The weather is also very HOT 😓
Tomorrow I have to plan a new weekly time-table for my son.
Thath's what I was planning to do, Come up with a weekly time-table. Have been giving in to his homeworks, now have to :stompfeet:

DS school just started all the p6ers Chinese oral practice conducted by external resources. The kids have to reach school early every Thursday for 30 mins of oral practice before actual lessons start.

His only free day also will be taken over with extra Higher Chinese curriculum class from April onwards as the teacher is trying to finish up the syllabus for revision later.

Definitely the engine is cranking up a few notches after this march holiday. My phone calendar is all filled with his schedules. With his competition coming up and more extra classes, DS has been very sensitive. Am trying my best to keep his spirit up and freeing more time for him to play…

You're right Zekezachzoom,
Sometimes there isn't much time to revise either and ds is upset if I push him further so we parents have to tackle this matter cautiously in order to keep their spirit up till PSLE.

I feel that I should let go, but afraid to do so...after all, I've been giving him coaching him all these while. This morning, I had a hard time planning his time-table. Have to keep a balance. Starting from next week, he has tuition every evening...so I had to take him out of his suppl lessons. After school, he will come straight home, have bath/lunch and nap.

Sometime it is very difficult to balance. We do not want our kids to be overloaded & fall sick. At the same time, we are worry that we will be run out of time & don’t have enough time for revision.

Exactly...you have echoed my feelings. :hi5:
Cannot overload or else they get burnt. If insufficient enough practice, we worry whether they are prepared. HOW ??? :nailbite: Can school homework prepare them for PSLE ?

why can't they charge the PSLE fees to edusave account. Why must they deduct thru Giro or cash. What is the purpose of having this account? Isn't it for education purpose? It is contains more and more money but cannot be used. ...there is no physical money in there...

I am really not sure whether school homework is enough. But my son's FT told me that school has already gives them a lot of homework, try not to give them more. According to his FT, it is quality not quantity. Just make sure that they understand what they are doing & getting them right. Maybe we can focus more on QUALITY!

To me, homework given should always be quality. Upon completion, the child should remember what has been taught. This is the reason why teacher gave hw - to reinforce.

On my part, I do give him a little like synthesis or vocab. At this level, it's hard to tell what will be tested for CA/SA. Cannot expect teacher to focus on everything either. But son refuses to do any comprehension OE I give him. So I hands off 🤷 . Let his teacher handle that area.
As for Chinese, I will get him to work on MCQ (section A) namely wan2 cheng2 dui4 hua4, yu3 wen2 ying4 yong4.

Sometimes the school homework is easy. If it’s easy and does not take much time, I will pump in some other work to practice.
