No, not you. ME.
Did you just describe me? :rotflmao: :rotflmao:Chenonceau:
My son cried last night. Hubby was at a loss...Younger sister gave her brother a tissue paper. My heart ached.
From now, stuff inappropriate will either be done by hubby. I want my son to learn his work happily but the work must be of use. I am lousy where his work is concerned but I know what is value-added and what is mass production.
I've become the 'MOE' at home. Used to be CEO but now more concerned with kids' work.
We both same same lah... I also know nuts about his work but I CAN tell when he is miserable or when work is unsuitable, and I am prepared to protect his time (so he can play). -
Hi fightingmom,
It's a norm in school, even top schools. My kid did one compo in term 1 and yet to see it. Probably wont get to see it.
So far none in term 2.
My goodness ! :yikes: Just 1 ?! :yikes: How is your child's coping? Is he/she good at writing ? My DD is rather weak in her English.

My son is very lucky to be taught by the English HOD. He is given 2 compo in a month. Their teacher even typed & printed out those well written compo & distributed to the class. We got back every single compo with the teacher's comment. In fact, my boy has show great improvement after 1 term. Thanks to his English teacher. :rahrah:
That's great ! Not all of us have such committed teachers ! -

Hugs to your ds & to you Janet. It really breaks our hearts to see them in such situations. They are still kids yet suddenly this year must act like big kids. They don't know how to handle the stress & probably need some outlets to release their stress. Maybe don't know how to share in so many words their stress too. Dd teared before but as girls she could share more indepth her feelings. Do take some time & chat with your ds. Ask him questions on what caused the outburst so that you know better how to help him address it.My son cried last night. Hubby was at a loss...Younger sister gave her brother a tissue paper. ...I found that most of the work was quite directly related to PSLE, and I would adjust what I assigned to take that into account. Eg. if her school homework was to do an English and a Math paper, I wouldn't ask her to any more English and Math that day.
This is exactly what I do too. If school homework overlaps exactly with what I have assigned, I take away my work and give playtime. I give 1 Chinese compo a week. If school assigns a Chinese compo that week, I delete my requirement. -

Hi Janet , after reading yr post old memories of my older DS PSLE came flowing back. what I did was when the days he was feeling down ,I just let him do his sch wk and nothing else unless he chose to, when d days he was feeling energetic n weekend then I pumped him with works. And also give him treats to d restruants he wanted (DS loves good food) and also to d game arcade for one or two games on the way home after tuition to destress.

Told him as long as he has put in his best effort I will except what ever results he get.
Now doing the same for younger DS , hope will work for the younger one as they have different characters :xedfingers: -

Does your child's school still giving homework for Music, Social Studies, Art & HealthEd? Mine does and I have been doing it for DD since the beginning of this year. I don't understand why the school is so 'ON' on these subjects this year!!
:yikes: What!!! Homework for Music, SS, Art & HE....kids don't even have enough time for their subject homeworks and still pump in for these subjects. So far, my ds jut brought 1 Art homework that's all and that is also given during the long weekend. -
My DS enjoys his Social Science homework. He gets to construct Powerpoint presentations and write up reports. It’s all ungraded but he spends a lotta time on them because he enjoys them. Grandma does his Art pieces and there is very little Music.

Just reminded my son to pass him all the non value work like music, HE, SS and Art to hubby. My son should spend his time resting instead of doing all these stuff. Last year near SA, he had to practise his harmonica. :faint:underthesea:

He had to do some Chinese project on animals during march holiday  it was some group work and 3 other kids refused to meet up. Son went to his classmate's place to get it done. That other boy's mum and I agreed that if the others do not show up, their names will not appear on PowerPoint.
Daddy buys him sundae every sat, Grandma baked him chicken pie and made jelly. He is really the king this year.
