Yes, the psle today is definitely very different. For chinese, they are expected to be able to read chinese newspapers as they base some of the compre and cloze passages on newspaper articles. During our time, i doubt i can read chinese newspapers in primary school.
To be fair, the kind of PSLE that our children face today is so much different from what we had when we were 12 years old.linden2000:
Hi. Thanks for the encouragement. Haven't seen the paper but would think it's compre in paper 2 and compo which he barely passed. While i'm tearing my hair out, he still thinks everything is fine and good. If only I'm the one doing the paper, then i think i'll be less stressed since i know i will try my best!
I know it is difficult but we have to be very patient if we are coaching them ourselves. I am guilty of flaring up a few times myself this year alone cos what seems so straight forward to me , my DD just cannot grasp it. It is very :frustrated: and sometime I really want to
.
However, with constant encouragement from our side, they will be more willing to try harder.
I keep telling myself - this is almost the last lap liao .... 忍 and just give your best shot to your child ! :please:
Yup have to be giving encouragement. It's just that looking at his attitude makes me frustrated. Perhaps for some boys it's like that. When something gets too painful or uncomfortable to confront, they just escape into their own world. Yes have to remind myself to be patient ! -

The jump from P4 to P5 is big because P5 papers follow PSLE format.Hi Mummies,
May I know if it's another BIG BIG jump from P5 to P6? Thanks.
P5 is a critical year as most PSLE topics will be taught. P6, 2 terms to cover the remaining topics then 1 term for revision and it is time for the big showdown. In P6, homework and pace depends a lot on your child's school.
As told to us by previous cohort's moms, ensure your child understand the Maths and Science concepts taught in P5 as in P6, they will get questions which span across topics. -

Same for my son. Results not in yet but he said the compre passages were hard so I am bracing myself. Now, I stopped thinking whether it's too late, just try to inch forward every single bit and :xedfingers:For my son, it is Chinese. Chinese teacher announced his marks in class today and that he has one of the lowest marks in class since he barely passed. Well he can come back and tell me about it as if it doesn't matter. :frustrated:
Regret not doing something about his chinese when he was in lower primary. Now i don't know whether it's too late. But still have to push on. -

Can confirm the open house for Dunman High? There's no information on their website and I've called the school twice. The admin said it could be on May 26 but not confirmed yet? It was only last week! :stupid:Hi ,

I am pulling my hair out figuring what went so wrong. He had Chinese tuition since P1 and I would say he had foundation, but when he went to P4, foundation was shaky. Even if it is very late, I cannot give up...this is last hurdle and really really thank goodness there is still June.
