      Mummyatwork:
The form teacher, an Indian teacher has been writting samples compositions and sharing them with the children. He keeps reminding them to use pharses. Even last Sat when they were back for extra lessons, the teacher was going through pharses and telling them high marks will be given if more pharses are used.

The form teacher is really ON !!!
      Extra lessons on Sat ?

        [/quote]
For CL, my son's conversation topic was on community work...something like 你有做过益公吗?As for EL, pic was on MRT and conversation was the advantages of traveling on MRT.

Yes, the class is very lucky to have such good teacher. Your kid will score well for his compo in PSLE. All the best!

Can answer never done before right? Then go about saying why didn't and why think it will be good to do community work. The teacher will not penalise if never do community work but want to assess how kids carry on the conversation within the topic. Am I correct?

But seeing the topic got me :yikes:

Can say never do before. Then say where go time to volunteer, school work oredi so much, exam standard so out of this world, gotta go this and that tuition, even if I want to do volunteer work and have the heart to do it, cannot find the time. I find time to help others, who's going to help me when I fail my exam? So focus on passing exam first, next time when grow up oredi, earn enuf oredi, sick of seeing my bosses black face then I go do charity. 😉

Goodness, this kind of topics will stump the kids. How to relate?

I think most schools would have exposed their P6 students to CIP. It can be a small thing such as collecting old newspapers to raise funds to big ticket item such as service learning trip.

Well for the holiday topic,if the child only engages in that particular hobby, then I guess need to explain why during the hols only have that one particular activity, maybe parents disallow, etc, I wonder how wide a scope is the child allow to explore. Maybe it's safer to just ask the child to memorise a wide range of topics. Not every child would have opportunities to experience all the activities that could be used as conversation topics. It very much depend on what is the assessment rubics. Do the schools provide such information to P6 parents?

it is so important to get kids to reflect what they have done over the whole year in school. some times my kid will just do, and then 'yeah' and forget about it. when come across such topics, they have to think on their feet and link back to what they have experienced.

eg, my boy had an oral topic of talking about an incident where he have render help to someone. he was dumbfolded and said he had nothing to talk about. after reminded that he had helped so and so about what and what before, he said \"oh that one ah...consider as helping someone meh? i thought that is expected of oneself as a classmate.\" 😓
