Chenonceau:
Sweetheart... everyone has a worst subject. My daughter's worst subject is Chinese. My worst subject is Math. My husband's worst subject is English. We're all doing quite well in life. So hey... very normal to have a worst subject.
BUT... if you even THINK now that you will get a B, then half your brain is used up THINKING that you might get a B... and you will only have 50% of brain power left to do your Science exam. You need your whole brain to do your Science exam. It's kinda late so here's a nice hug from Aunty Chenonceau... and since you are someone who cares so much about your studies, I am sure you won't get a B.
You need to rest your brain... calm your heart... and give your worst subject your ALL. Since it is your worst subject, you can't afford to go in there at half power. The PSLE is as much a test of emotional resilience and self-control as it is of your academic ability. Sleep now. Make nice dreams. Go in there bravely and strut your stuff.
Chen, i am so moved by this post and so many of your previous posts especially during this taxing and stressful moments.
Wish there are more posts like this in the forum which are encouraging, cohesive, meaningful, sincere and so heart warming.
THANK YOU. -

Yes Chief...Thanks for the reminder. Will not allow him to play 24/7 until Jan 2013 or he could possibly forget his father's name. Here's a little caution for parents for what happens tomorrow. While we definitely need to let the kids celebrate after such an intense period, do NOT let them play all day/night for weeks. They will suffer a culture shock when they have to get back to the grind in Jan next year.
Mitigate the celebration. Get them to spend more time with you and use this time to get close to them by playing games and sports with them.
Plan to let him enjoy until Nov...then start to introduce him to Sec english from Dec. A friend told me right after 2 weeks orientation in secondary 1, the tests will start and with 8-9 subjects, it is going to be very tough. -

Your advise is timely, thank you. Here's a little caution for parents for what happens tomorrow. While we definitely need to let the kids celebrate after such an intense period, do NOT let them play all day/night for weeks.
I have promised my dd that she can rot in front of the computer from Wednesday onwards. She reminded me today that she's looking forward to the rot[
Mitigate the celebration. Get them to spend more time with you and use this time to get close to them by playing games and sports with them. Once they enter Secondary school, they will be teenagers and will prefer to spend time with their friends than with you!
I was actually thinking of throwing myself into my work and finally get things done.
Wishing all P6 students best of luck tomorrow!
I see the errors of my plans. -
mummy so kiasu:
Think your HCL point is only valid if you obtained at least A for CL. If no A or A* for CL, even if you get Distinction for HCL also no use.
You can only use the additional points if you are applying for SAP schools. I think the score required to qualify for the grade will depend on the performance of the cohort.LionelMessi3175:
For the HCL pupils,Is it
Pass:add 1 mark to psle score
Merit:add 2 mark to psle score
Distinction:add 3 mark to psle score
If this is real, can someone post the minimum score for merit and distinction

DS’s CL and Math tutors are letting him off for the month of Oct. Then Nov he has to be back in shape. Already DS so very happy.
Actually he was still planning on going for Math tuition on Sat and asking why he didn’t have to go. My boy doesn’t seem to realise that this is REALLY PSLE! After that he’s out of primary school moving onto secondary school. Still so like a baby! I forsee I’ll have to continue to baby him through secondary school. Hiaz… -

It may be due to anxiety...my son had stomach ache last Friday before his Math. He applied medicated oil. Our poor kids had gone through a lot this year.panickymum:

I personally don't ask my kids to do any work in advance of school as I feel it's best left to when school starts. But that's my personal view. During vacations, my kids look at me with horror if I try to get them to do any school-related work, but they will happily do other stuff which also benefits them academically in the long run. I encourage them to read a lot and as widely as I can persuade them to, both enjoy writing to some extent so they may write stories etc, I do some cooking and crafts with them (which includes practical math skills like conversions, estimations, measurements, calculations etc), and we do puzzles and board games. I usually also set them additional chores like clearing and cleaning. I relax limits on computer and TV time, but still keep fairly strict limits - about 2 one-hour sessions a day at most, with additional time if they are writing or designing on the computer. It keeps their brains alive over long holidays.

Don't be stressed. Go celebrate that it's finally over!!!
I've been on leave too. DD & I are actually a little sad that this is over. She loves the pampering & i'm so going to miss spending so much time with her. -
Peony:
My hubby has been on leave for the past 9 days...giving son that moral support. He has either been the driver fetching son for those intensive lessons before the first paper or coaching younger one so that she doesn't disturb 'gor gor' while he revises. It's only today he gets to enjoy before going back to work.
