She means the students in her son's school who scored in the top 10% of PSLE. And there are about 30 in her school.
the top 10% in national would be spread all over singapore...how is it possible to collect result slips from your son's school ?janet_lee88:

I mean top 10% in national from my son's school. They will be going up the stage to collect the result slips from the principal.
How would the sch p know the t score of top 10% national this yr ? -
mummy so kiasu:
No lah. It is base on school history. Every year +/- 30 students, normally school top 10% is national top 10%. Consider quite good for a neighbourhood school.
Ic....thanks for the clarification, mummy so kiasu. Yes I totally agreed with you that +/-30 students within top 10% yearly is a very great achievement for a school!
You mean school already know the result? When? How you get the news?Flowermonaster:

May be after reading moe's latest news, the sch principal will also play it dowm and not reveal the names' of the top scorers.
maybe the sch principal won't reveal top scorers to the media, but internally i feel that giving recognition to the top students in the school is fine.
gosh, 2 days before the release, there is a bombshell...who would have expected this.
Dearie , only one day left lah!!!

Journalists won't be lost. They'll just do what they did in the old days before MOE issued embargoed press releases on top scorers. They call up schools and ask them for their results and if they think it's worth mentioning, they head on down.
I think reporters are at a loss...don't know which schools to go.janet_lee88:

Wonder what will be ST's coverage of PSLE be like this yr.
If they're looking for top scorers, they'll just head to the schools which are likely to have top scorers - NYPS etc. So media attention will still focus on these schools.
Wonder what's the instruction from MOE to the Ps -
it’s so sudden…wonder what is the instruction to the media from moe…parents and kids are lost in their own world.

MOE can't instruct the media. All they can do is give them a limited press release with no top scorer details. -
With all the current hype and discussions on the review of PSLE, I am wondering if there would be any cut-off points listed in the secondary school selection booklets by next year. Better still, by PSLE 2014, maybe no more display of T-Score, only the alphabets.
-
I think still need to list the COP becos it’s a gauge that students use to decide which are the schools they are able to gain entry.
-
Likely reporters will report more on schools which have ‘improved’ rather than schools known for good results.
