Earth Hour

We were away last year, so that don't count cos we flew.
This year we would most probably be out somewhere after DH's dragon boat race out in Bedok reservoir. So I would remember to switch off all except fridge b4 i leave the house and friend is picking us up from home so thats our contribution toward mother earth.

Adults will continue to bluff themselves, but at least we can teach the kids.
Esp. those who always forget to switch off lights. -

I hv been repeating that so often to DH that DS will tell daddy to switch off the light when he leaves the room.
. Its not only lights, its also the switch for our toaster oven, electric kettle, microwave oven, tv, stereo, chargers, fan, a/c, etc. DH always say its too troublesome, so I went a got a few power bars and plug the various switches into one bar and just one flick would switch off a few. Since i m the last to leave the house each day, I will go around and switch off all switches b4 leaving. When we moved to the current place. I insisted on installing a gas heater instead of an electrical one. Our bill cut by almost $30 a month as compared to our previous place.
Its not only about saving earth, it also helps to cut down on utilities bill, saving our wallet. -
My son is very green conscious and will power off any appliances which are not in used. He even uses blackle instead of google; there's a counter that shows you many watt hours you saved by simply using a darkened backgr instead of white like google. http://blackle.com/

He gets annoyed with his sis for leaving the computer on standby ever so often. But he annoys me when he doesn't turn on the study lamp when he does his homework.
Each of us have a small part to play and hopefully the various gd habits we inculcate in our young would carry to the next generation. -
Donโt forget to turn off your lights tonight from 8:30pm-9:30pm. No cheating by watching TV or using the computer either. Go shopping and save the economy while saving our Earth.

Happy to report that we made it through and switched off all appliances. Counted 14 out of 34 houses in the neighbourhood with their lights off. Thatโs 41%, pretty impressive. Hope it makes all more conscious of the environment.
Chatted with the kids about what to do in a crisis; where the CD shelter is; even sang teen titans with them etc.
DH cheated by napping. -

DH cheated by napping.
both the kids sat by the door cos only the corridor has lights. they ate snacks, play, 'talk' and dunno what - i was too busy pacifying my dh who was sulking cos he can't play his computer games
we only switched off the lights and fan. somehow, the noise volume of the kids also reduced

sashimi and I went to the library and supermart at the mall nearby. Once there, we saw Coffee Bean, Swensenโs and Subway with dimmed lights. At home, we switched off all lights, even the altarโs. We explained to Kuan Yin and lit a tealight candle for her before we left.

No problem. We (even our DD) like to think that she is very kind and understanding. ^_^schellen:
