I'm sorry, but this is an example of a bad question. If one follows the correct usage of the tenses used in the question, this working is more correct:-Hi can anyone help me with the following qns?
Ryan, Grace and Charlie have 100 bottles of jelly beans altogether. Charlie has 37 bottles of jelly beans. Charlie gave Ryan 11 bottles of jelly beans and Ryan had 46 bottles. How many more bottles of jelly beans does Ryan have than Grace at first?
Working:-
Total -100
Charlie - 37 - 11=26
Ryan - 46
Grace - 100-26-46=28
Since Ryan has 11 bottles from Charlie, then he should has 35 bottles at first.
My answer - Ryan has 7 more bottles of jelly beans than Grace. As I don't have the answer sheet with me, not sure whether my answer is correct or not.
Charlie - 37+11=48
Ryan - 46
Grace - 100-48-46=6
Since Charlie gave 11 bottles to Ryan and he has 37 bottles, he had 48 bottles at first.
Ryan had 46 bottles.
Grace therefore only had 100-48-46 = 6 bottles.
The answer is Ryan had 40 more bottles than Grace at first. -

These types of questions are great!!! they are the types that would allow one to think deeply, rather than memorising type of questions.
By the way, where to get the textbook list for Primary One for next year 2013? DLS is very silent after Registration. Do we get it from the school, or does MOE published a common list for all schools? -

Different schools use different books. So, it is better for you to wait for the school to distribute. These types of questions are great!!! they are the types that would allow one to think deeply, rather than memorising type of questions.

so is it 7 or 6? -
Hi,
I saw a question in the Shaping Maths 1B Activity Book Page 22. The question is basically asking how many ways you can divide 12 cards into equal groups. Other than 2 groups of 6, 6 groups of 2, 3 groups of 4, 4 groups of 3 and 12 groups of 1, should I also include also 1 group of 12 in the answer ? The reason Iām confused is because of the "divide into groups" and Iām not sure if 1 groupof 12 is considered the correct answer since the question asked for "groups" and not "group"
Thanks! -

Haha, I think the right concept is more impt than the right answers. I would include 1 group of 12 as the right answer, regardless of whether that is the model answer or notHi,

But if the qn is asking to divide into equal groups, I would not include 1 group of 12. Because it is not about how to group 12 items. Is it possible to reproduce the qn here?
