RE: Methodist Girls' School (Secondary)
DotingDad:
Saw the updated book list --- 1E and 1O are the SBA classes I supposed because they had to purchase the Mentor Mathematics book.
Hi, does anyone know the COP for the SBA Express classes? is selection for the SBA classes strictly on merit?
TIA....
Not sure of COP. My girl who scored 24x is not in 1E or 1O. She has a friend whose score is 23x but is in 1O. Weird. Both girls have affiliation. -
RE: DSA 2018

Thanks. My question is whether is it advisable to take up 3rd language, not on how to do submission. If take up 3rd language, can drop in subsequent level?
Oops I think I replied to the wrong post. There was another post that asks if DSA given 3rd language option still needs to submit if rejecting the 3rd language option.
Hi, same situation for me. I logged in. there is an option something like \"I would like to take up 3rd language\" vs \" I would not like to take up 3rd language\". Choose the option you one and leave the language code blank.Wolfgirl:
Hi
Would like to seek advise, my child been offered 3rd language one of which is Malay and also HMT. Is it advisable to sign up?
They will ask you to confirm your options in the next page.
Basically it is stated in that screen that you have been posted to XYZ school and you have to report on 20 Dec at 8.30 am.
Hope this is helpful.
Sorry.
My child is keen to try for one year, but considering that she has to travel out of school for 3rd language, we have decided not to go for it. Plus, she may not be able to cope with 3rd language plus HMTL. For us, whether the 3rd language is offered in her school is the deciding factor. -

RE: Travel: Indonesia - Bali
Places to visit:
1. Waterbom Bali - my 9 yo loves it. We went to the water theme park when she was 8, then this year, it was her 9 yo birthday treat (2 days!)
2. If you are staying in Seminyak, there is a trick eye museum along the main road in seminyak (just take a cab), if you have not been to the one in Sentosa.
3. Kuta Theatre is nice. They have a show everynight: dance, cultural, magic show all in one. Starts at 8 pm. Just google kuta theatre. Reach there slightly earlier, like 7.45 to take pictures with the illusion set-ups outside the theatre (about 6 set ups).
Many restaurants next to the theatre. We went to Bubba Gump Restaurant - If you have watched Forrest Gump, you will know Bubba Gump. It sells American style seafood - fish and chips, shrimps, ribs, chicken etc.
My girl is always asking me to bring her to Bali again. She loves massages too. haha -
RE: All About Competitive Swimming
The kolam Ayer community sports club just had their swim meet on Sunday.
Another swim meet you can look out for is Civil Service club meet. They held it in April this year if I am not wrong. -
RE: All About Guzheng/Pipa
phtthp:
My girl skipped grade 1. Advice from both CCA teacher and private instructor. Instructor says that grade 2 songs are easier than grade 1. Hahaany children learning guzheng Grade 1, or 2 in school Cca ?
normally learn how long, in order to pass Grade 1 ?
Now my girl is in grade 3 taking exams at the end of the year.
Her CCA mate skipped grade 1, took grade 2 in 2014, skipping grade 3 and taking grade 4 this year. -

RE: Travel: Indonesia - Bali
Stayed in Seminyak in 2014 and then Hard Rock in 2015.
Hard Rock is indeed a better choice for family with kids.
There is also a kid’s club but we did not make use of it.
Pool area is fantastic. 2 types of slides and 1 water playground.
artificial (but super clean) beach/sand area for beach volleyball, sandcastle making etc. -
RE: Maha Bodhi
Hi,
can any parents advise whether kids can buy extra PE shorts in school?
My girl needs another pair as there is some martial arts enrichment program.
