Hi can anyone help me with the following qns?

Ryan, Grace and Charlie have 100 bottles of jelly beans altogether. Charlie has 37 bottles of jelly beans. Charlie gave Ryan 11 bottles of jelly beans and Ryan had 46 bottles. How many more bottles of jelly beans does Ryan have than Grace at first?

      Working:-
      Total -100
      Charlie - 37 - 11=26
      Ryan - 46
      Grace - 100-26-46=28
Since Ryan has 11 bottles from Charlie, then he should has 35 bottles at first.
My answer - Ryan has 7 more bottles of jelly beans than Grace. As I don’t have the answer sheet with me, not sure whether my answer is correct or not.

I'm sorry, but this is an example of a bad question. If one follows the correct usage of the tenses used in the question, this working is more correct:-

              Charlie - 37+11=48
              Ryan - 46
              Grace - 100-48-46=6

Since Charlie gave 11 bottles to Ryan and he has 37 bottles, he had 48 bottles at first.
              Ryan had 46 bottles.
Grace therefore only had 100-48-46 = 6 bottles.
The answer is Ryan had 40 more bottles than Grace at first.

These types of questions are great!!! they are the types that would allow one to think deeply, rather than memorising type of questions.

By the way, where to get the textbook list for Primary One for next year 2013? DLS is very silent after Registration. Do we get it from the school, or does MOE published a common list for all schools?

Different schools use different books. So, it is better for you to wait for the school to distribute.
