      Need help!! A farmer has 80 chickens and goats. There are 250 legs. How many chickens are there? (Use assuming all method). Anyone??

      Assume all 80 chickens.
      80x2 = 160
      250-160 = 90
      4-2 = 2 (goat has 4 legs but chickens have 2 legs)

      90/2 = 45 -> no. of goats.

      Hence chickens is (80-45)=35.

        The total mass of 5 packets of flour and 4 packets of rice is 490 kg. Each packet of flour has a mass twice that of a packet of rice. What is the mass of each packet of flour ?

        Thanks.

          Hi

          One way to solve it.

          Rice ----- 1 unit
          Flour ----- 2 units

          Mass for 5 packets of flour ------ (5*2) ------ 10 units
          Mass for 4 packets of rice ----- 4 units

          14 units ----- 490
          1 unit ----- 35

          2 units ----- 70 (the mass of each packet of flour)

          Best wishes

            Let u be the mass of rice.
            mass of flour is 2u.
            5(2u) + 4(u) -> 490
            14 u-> 490
            u-> 35
            2u -> 70
            Mass of each packet of flour is 70kg

                Hi, pls help to solve with a model diagram if possible. Ty!

                1) Fatimah has 40 coins. Some of the coins are 50-cent coins and the rest are
                20-cent coins. The total value is $16.10 How many 50-cent coins does Fatimah
                have?

                2) In a long jump competition, Paul jumped 0.16m further than Royston while
                Shawn jumped 0.24m less than Paul. If the total distance jumped by the three
                boys was 3.44m, how far did each boy jump?

                  1. Assume all 40 are 20-cent coins.
                  40 x 0.20 = 8
                  16.10-8.00 = 8.10
                  0.50 - 0.20 = 0.30

                  8.10/0.30 = 27

                  There are 27 50-cent coins.

                  Check: 27 x 0.50 = 13.50, 13x0.20 = 2.60 Total = 13.50+2.60 = 16.10

                  2.

                  P (__u___)(16)
                  R (__u___)
                  S (__u+16-24)

                  u+16 + u + u+16-24 -> 344
                  3u = 336
                  u = 112

                  Paul jumped (112+16)= 128 cm= 1.28m
                  Royston jumped 112cm = 1.12m
                  Shawn jumped 112-8 = 104cm = 1.04m
