      Hi! Needs help to understand the question and the solution provided in the answer sheet; :thankyou: in Advance.

      The total age of Andy and Karen is 56 years.
      In four years' time, Andy will be three times as old as Karen.
      How old is Andy now?

      Answer sheet solution
      In 4 years time, the total age of the two people will increase by 8 years.
      Karen: 1 unit
      Andy: 3 units
      4 units = 56+8=64
      1 unit = 64/4= 16
      3 units = 3 x 16 = 48
      48-4 = 44

      Andy is 44 years old now.

      Can someone explain to me - the 1st part about in 4 years time, total of the 2 people will increase by 8 years :?

              3G + 4S -> 8.10
              [5G + 2S -> 9.30] x 2
              10G + 4S ->18.60
              (10-3)G -> 18.60-8.10
              7G -> 10.50
              G -> $1.50
              8G -> 1.5 x 8 = $12

              The gold fishes are $12.

                I think you meant G -> $1.05
                8G -> 1.05 x 8 = $8.40

                  If you subtract the 2 equations, do you get G=1.05?
