      Hi, can someone pls help with this Qn:

      Aaron and Ben shared a sum of $200. Aaron gave 3/5 of what he has to Ben. Ben later gave 1/5 of what he has back to Aaron. They ended up with equal amount of money. How much did Aaron have at first? Thanks.

        hi, offering my help :

        i would use working backwards method.. note that this is internal transfer and constant total.

        They ended up with equal amount of money.
        so $200 / 2 = $100

        Ben later gave 1/5 of what he has back to Aaron.
        means Ben would have 4/5 left and this 4/5 is $100.
        4/5 --> $100
        1/5 --> $25 (Ben gave back to Aaron)
        5/5 --> $125 (Ben has $125 after Aaron gave him 3/5 of his money)

        $200 - $125 = $75 (Since Ben has $125 after receiving money from Aaron, Aaron should have $75 left after giving his money to Ben.)

        Aaron gave 3/5 of what he has to Ben.
        so Aaron should have 2/5 of money left.
        2/5 --> $75
        1/5 --> $37.50
        5/5 --> $187.50 (Aaron had at first)

        $200 - $187.50 = $12.50 (Ben had at first)

                Volume of air = 12 x 448 cm3

                In figure 2, volume of water : volume of air = 3 : 5
                So volume of water = 3/5 x 12 x 448 = 3225. 6 cm3

                cheers

                      can we calculate the volume of water as (Height of water) x Area of tank = 10 x 448 = 4480 cm3 ?
