Mighty Math - Discussion

I am interested to send my DD… where is your tampines branch?
-
I think you can check via the website link provided by a mummy earlier.
phtthp:
i think Mighty Maths is not bad, as it covers and teach our children 2 aspects - a) Foundational Maths b) Heuristic Maths. Mighty Maths teach by hands on approach first, then followed by practise colorful worksheets, to reinforce concepts.
most students usually do not have problem understanding Foundational Maths (FM). But some may, where Heuristic Maths (HM) is concerned. Majority schools start teaching HM from P2 onwards, although minority schools may start teaching from P1 Term 4 onwards. Hence, it is good that Mighty Maths cover Heuristic Maths portion as well.
to me, i feel one Maths enrichment is sufficient. However that mom you happen to meet where her child take 2 Maths enrichment - perhaps because her child happen to be in those schools where it is a norm to send kids to the The Learning Lab (TLL is very ex). Her mom worry that her child may lose out to her classmates, if she doesn't send her child to TLL practise those difficult mock exam papers. Not sure how TLL teach, does it have hands on approach first, before attempting worksheets next?
if you're keen, you may pay TLL a visit. Ask them to show you sample worksheets see what they cover - for that level you're interested in for your child (nearer the time when your child reach P1, P2, P3, etc). See how far off is it from Mighty Maths ? compare & contrast:-
- Syllabus (content covered),
- teaching style, approach or methodology adopted in class,
- Teachers to kids ratio per group,
- duration each session,
- any replacement lesson if child falls sick,
- any others.
every child learns differently. Choose the one that is most appropriate for your child. One Maths enrichment enough. Drop whichever you deem not so suitable.
in fact, too much enrichment makes your child tired.
on the contrary, there are kids who excel in Maths, without going for any enrichment.

Btw, has anyone tried the Kembangan branch? If yes, can share your experience on the teachers there?
It seems the very positive testimonials seemed to stream from the punggol branch but its a bit of distance for me.
Appreciate if any parents with kids at Kembangan or Tampines branch can share some views?
Thank you. -

Many good reviews? But any centre in Serangoon area?
-
Spoken to teacher Stella… she is very knowledgeable and helpful. Hope I make the right choice… any more feedback please? : )

Hi Yan Ling,
Yes, Teacher Stella is good with kids and very knowledgeable. My ds is with her.
However, my only concern is that the teacher is not fixed. -
I just got a call from Stella that sengkang got vacancy for 7.30pm but must pay for registration $30 and $120/month for trial month. I thought usually no need for registration fee for trial? Anyone currently taking the K1 class can advice?
