Study hard lor. Why don't just do grade 8 theory? WHy need to do grade 7? My boy did gr 3 & gr 5 - yeah, easier to get disctinction for lower grades. I looked at his marksheet - not too bad actually.
      thanks phankao ~ πŸ˜ƒ

CH is designated centre from 2011. Got MEP. Start from Sec 1. 4 yrs prog. As long can get into the sch, can opt. Min grade 3 practical and theory, subject to audition. Yes, exempt from home Econ and d&t.

Anyone kn if Catholic high (sec level) offers MEP? I kn CHC are not part of the 7 mep schools designated by moe, but want to kn if they do have similar pgm, eg njc and nygh have their own inhouse music pgm.

Also, is there a min psle aggreg attained in order to qualify for MEP? If my ds choose to join mep, wil he be exempted from home econ and D & T subjects?

Finally, if unfortunately my ds did not do well enough in psle to get into those sec schools that offer MEP, can he still opt for MEP in one of those designated school? How often is the cls held?

              Many tia..
Catholic High school is one of the MEP Centers.

No minimum PSLE aggregate - as long as your son has been accepted entry into CHS, he can apply for MEP on the Sec 1 Reporting Day. Just bring along copies of his certs (min grade 3 theory and grade 4 practical), so that he can submit on-the-spot. Of course he can submit another day. Up to MEP to accept him into the programme though. But all will know by 1st week of January.

For CHS, MEP students are not exempted from D&T and Home Econs lessons though. MEP is held after curriculum hours.

I don't know how to answer the last part of your question

NJC got quite exciting programme. Can consider there too. CH in my opinion is quite new. My ds somehow I think is guinea pig there. Thoug I'm not sure how old NJC's programme is!! πŸ™‚

Meiah - the 2012 batch of Sec 1 in CHS, not exempt from D&T and Home Econs even if they take MEP.

Phankao, you mean now it’s after curriculum? My ds does not take home econs and d&t.

For your boy, did he tk gr 5 and then directly to gr8 theory? My boy intend to skip gr6, then tk gr7 and 8. Do you think gr7 and 8 are kind of repeitive that i can skip gr7 comfortably?

Also, for gr6-8 abrsm syllabus, does it tk longer than the lower grades to complete? eg gr 1-4, each grade my ds took about 6-7mths to complete, for gr6 and abv will he req about 1 yr to complete?
