I am thinking of going for implant. Anyone knows the cost claimable by CPF. Maybe I go for the cheaper mini dental implant?
About 2.8K. My dentist doesn't recommend the mini implant but I can't remember why. Maybe my ex-molar roots were very long, so the standard implant is more stable. -
Hi verysuperkiasu, you can claim about 2.8K from medisave. The rest will be topped up by cash. I’m still waiting to get my crown, so I haven’t paid yet. Not sure about the final amt. The dentist told me the amount so long ago, I kinda forgot already.

If the tooth is half gone, isn't it less traumatic to extract and do implant, rather than go thru the terrifying process of root canal treatment. Some tooth can be so badly damaged, it's no point trying to save it.
Oh dear, went to polyclinic dentist 2day to see if they can save a tooth (half gone due to massive filling dropping out). The dentist there refer me to NDC to do root canal and crowning. -

Yah that's what I think too. I'm worried abt the cost. So the dentist suggest root canal and crowning instead. Can you roughly know how much you paid so far? I was told by the dental nurse there that the cpf claim can only be 1/4 of the total cost. So if $2.8K is what u claimed, then u got to pay $8.4K!? Cannot be so expensive right? I think the dental nurse is wrong.

No, it's not so expensive. Specialist charge should be about 4.5K(plus minus abit) Mine was not done by a specialist, so it should be much cheaper. I can give you my dentist's name if you want.
