      mummyJune:
dear all, my son now 3yrs old, doesn't like to brush teeth. previously when i saw his teeth are yellowish, i clean with a damp cloth but some stains are still there.

How to get him to brush teeth? everyday when we reached home, he knows he has to wash his hands & legs, at the same time i tried to brush teeth for him but he refused to open his mouth. Im so worried about him having tooth decay.

      Please advise.Thanks.
Maybe u can try getting him his favourite flavour toothpaste, something he likes? But remind him not to swallow.

Or u might want what this website suggests:

      All the best....:)

I bought a nice toothbrush with some cartoon character on it and she wanted to brush by herself. I would take over once she’s done "licking" the toothpaste. hahaha

You can also let him play this online game on sesamestreet.com where Elmo gets the kid to help him brush his teeth. My gal liked that and would tell me she wants to brush like Elmo.

I also let her brush while watching her fave TV shows. You don’t have to brush in the bathroom all the time.

              J tea:
Hi Apricot, i saw the previous post that you posted.. Im currently jstarting to do my braces at the clinic that you mentioned. If i run out of dental wax, can i get more from their clinic? Or do they sell it?

Because i was quite shock to hear from the doctor that 1 box of dental wax can last me until I finish the treatment.

But my braces are cutting my cheeks very badly and I need to use a lot of wax.

Can you please share with me your experience at their clinic?
Hi J Tea, I have replied your question which u have posted under 'Dental Braces' .

My dd only use wax initially for a few days and after that she didn't have to use it as she got used to e braces. I also thought that it would not be enough as my dd has low threshold of pain but we still have some wax left. I was also worried that she was going to lose weight as she couldn't eat well initially but a week later, she was already eating normally. πŸ˜„

If you need more wax, you can always get it from the clinic. It is normal to feel discomfort and pain initially but it should go away once you get used to e braces. If u still feel that it is too painful after several days, you might want to check with the clinic if they could do something.

So far, my experience with the clinic has been pleasant. They have always been very polite to my many queries. There were times when my dd felt unusual pain on gum/tooth, we would just call and make appointment with the clinic to check and Dr Tan will always see us without extra charge. Sigh..... Sometimes, false alarm from my dd, so we just cancel appointment last minute but they never complain.

When her tooth was wobbly she complained that it was abit uncomfortable to eat so we extracted it. Both teeth dod not drop out on their own. Am just wondering is it normal for the permanent set to take so long to appear. Should I wait for a couple more months or go to the dentist to get it checked. Her bottom ones have dropped and grown new set already.

Same as my girl. Her two front teeth took many months (tink also more than 6 months - its so long that I lost count) to grow. One dropped of by itself and d other pulled it out as she feel uncomfortable when eating. So your dau shd b alright πŸ˜„

finally I figure out how to use quotes πŸ•Ί

there is also a way to manage tooth decay via nutrition as per Weston Price.... also we all have to be aware of the Lifetime of teeth, like when child will lose milk teeth to be replaced by permanent ones.. root canal treatment for very young children (and even for adults) is totally *BS.. no teeth is worth saving via root canal treatment... think of it this way.. the insides of your teeth are the life of your teeth.. if you scrape it out.. your teeth is ultimately dead (no more blood and nerves to supply nutrients to the crown of teeth).. what is the use of a dead tooth? it will just cause more infection to your jaw bone.. and spread to other teeth... the best way is address tooth decay by extraction (specially for young children) and then ensure that they receive high quality nutrition to reverse tooth decay and help in promoting healthy permanent teeth.

                    Hey fifiyeo,

I am not strong academically...but hubby hates wordy stuff. So for English and Chinese, I have no choice but follow closely.
After Thursday ie gal's last exam, I have to attend to son's dental treatment. He has to start braces.

We are done with our 12 year olds only by Christmas...getting uniforms and new books.
Janet_lee88, your DS can start braces at his age? My DS also needs braces due to overcrowding. But dentist said too young, said wait for a while.

                    ooppsss :offtopic: sorry.

Sorry :offtopic: too  but yes, can wear braces once all of your DC's adult teeth have erupted.

In fact, that was my No.1 thing to do for DD post PSLE. She got 4 teeth extracted a few days after final paper, followed by the fixing of braces. In fact, her front teeth have started to straighten out πŸ˜„

My ds has very crooked front teeth since P3 and we raised our concern to the sch dental. The dentist referred us to health board and ds crooked front teeth were straighten by wearing braces behind them. within 6 months they were corrected with very minimum pain and discomfort. Amazing and he did it after his P4 SA2.
