Well, they have quite a number of good teachers in Tampines. Every teacher has his/her own teaching style and it is a matter of which suits you the best.

Which level is you child in? I know for a fact that they have different teachers in specialising in different levels. For Tampines, the more prominent ones are Ms Lee (S), Ms Amy (M/S), Mr Khairi (E/M), Ms Lynn (E), Ms Chia (S) and Ms Irene (E/M/S) but each teacher specialises in his/her own subjects/levels. Even the phonics teachers are pretty good.

According to them, the teachers are NIE trained but I don’t think being trained necessarily mean that they’re good. For the Tampines branch, there are some ex-teachers and even current ones. So you have to go in with an open mind and see for yourself who’s effective and who’s not.

Do you know anything about the Bishan branch? I heard people saying the Bishan branch is the best? Any truth in that? Btw, can you request for a particular teacher?

Well, Bishan is the Head Office. I can’t say that I agree that they are the best but since it’s where the Headquarters is, the place is befitting of the title as it was newly-renovated. However, my own belief is that every branch has its own set of good teachers and IMHO, wherever you go, you will get the same materials. What’s more important is that the teacher delivering them is able to bring out the child’s interest in the subject.

My son is with Mr Khairi for English and Maths, Ms Lee for Science. It’s going to be the same for PSLE year in 2011 as well.

Does anyone knows about MS at Jurong branch? They are shifting to Jurong East (the old Jurong Primary school) in early Dec. Which teacher is good?

15 to a class is a bit too many and I wonder how the teacher is going to manage the class should there be different levels of students in the class.

Mindstretcher have been placing ads in newspaper to hire new tutors.

Always keep a lookout in the newspaper on such things cos it may mean that there’s a high turnover rate (unless they are opening a new branch).
