back 1st step, the divide by 2=56 is for E. 112+56=168 for G

back 2nd step, 112+84=196 is for F, G is 168 divide by 2=84

back a step, E is 56+98=154, F is 196 divide by2=98

My way to do this is: type the working in MS word/ excel first, then press/click 'PrtScn' button and paste them to paint brush, modify it and save as picture format, follow by upload to website.

Tianzhu's answers are correct. The sequence is an arithmetic progression of odd numbers, and the sum of which is n * n, where n is the \"row\". To visualize why it is so, check out this http://merganser.math.gvsu.edu/calculus/summation/odds.html.

General rule of thumb formulae:
Sum of 1st n even numbers = n * (n+1)
Sum of 1st n odd numbers = n * n
