        speed on escalator --> 5 km/h + 10 km/h = 15 km/h

        cheers.

          pls help e Q;

          The figure is made up of a rectangle and a square. The ratio of the area of the square to the area of the rectangle is 1: 3. A shaded area of 20cm2 is being removed. The ratio of the area of the unshaded square to that of the unshaded rectangle is now 2 : 7. What is the length of the square?

          Thank you
          I presume the removed shaded area is the overlapped area of the square and the rectangle as shown below.

            Mrs Lee wanted to hang some lanterns. She started by hanging a lantern at each corner of the field as shown in the diagram. The distance between one lantern and another is 190cm along the perimeter of a square field. The perimeter of the field is 380m. She realised that the remaining lanterns are only enough to be hung along 3 sides of the square field. How many lanterns were hung altogether?
            Length of each side of the square = 380 m / 4 = 95m

            Number of lanterns = 3 x 95/ 1.9 +1 = 151

            cheers.

                A man spent $760 on TV set, save $500 on his salary, and spent the remaining of his salary on his house bill and transport in the ratio of 3:2. If he spent 1/6 of his salary on transport, what is his total salary?

                  House bill -> 3 units
                  transport -> 2 units --- 1/6 of salary
                  salary -> 6 x 2 units = 12 units
                  tv+savings = $ 1260 --> 12 units - 3 units -2 units = 7 units
                  1 unit -> $180
                  salary -> $2 160

                  cheers.

                      Hi, can anyone help me in this question

                      1. Mrs Lim went to the market with a sum of money. She spent 1/2 of her money and $12 on prawns . She then spent 1/3 of the remaining money and $13 on chickens. Finally, she spent 1/4 of the money she had left and $14 on eggs. In the end, she had $7 left.

                      a) how much did Mrs Lim have left after spending her money on chickens?
                      b) how much did she have at first?

                      Thank you

                        Hi,

                        One way is to use \"ratio tree\" and work backwards.
