        A man spent $760 on TV set, save $500 on his salary, and spent the remaining of his salary on his house bill and transport in the ratio of 3:2. If he spent 1/6 of his salary on transport, what is his total salary?

          House bill -> 3 units
          transport -> 2 units --- 1/6 of salary
          salary -> 6 x 2 units = 12 units
          tv+savings = $ 1260 --> 12 units - 3 units -2 units = 7 units
          1 unit -> $180
          salary -> $2 160

          cheers.

              Hi, can anyone help me in this question

              1. Mrs Lim went to the market with a sum of money. She spent 1/2 of her money and $12 on prawns . She then spent 1/3 of the remaining money and $13 on chickens. Finally, she spent 1/4 of the money she had left and $14 on eggs. In the end, she had $7 left.

              a) how much did Mrs Lim have left after spending her money on chickens?
              b) how much did she have at first?

              Thank you

                Hi,

                One way is to use \"ratio tree\" and work backwards.

                  an alternative way, drop-down model & work backwards.

                      Hi, can someone pls assist with these Qns? TYVM!

                      1) A car and a lorry left Town X at 1045 and travelled towards Town Y which was 352 km away. The lorry took 4 hrs to reach Town Y. The average speed of the car was 22 km/h faster than the lorry. At what time did the car reach Town X?

                      2) At 1030h, Ben started travelling from Town A torwads Town B. At the same time, Chandra started travelling from Town B towards Town A. Town A and Town B were 195 km apart.
                      Ben travelled at an average speed that was 15 km/h more than Chandra’s average speed. They met each other at 1330h. What was Ben’s average speed?

                      thanks!

                        Hi, need help with these 2 additional Qns:

                        1) Mrs Chan bought 450 similar handbags. She sold 5/9 of them at a selling price of $25 each and 1/2 of the remainder at a discount of 30% of the selling price. She sold the rest of the handbags at the original price. She made a loss of $1975. What was the original price of each hangbag?

                        2) David and Muthu took part in a cycling race.
                        David cycled at a speed of 20 km/h. Both of them did not change their speed throughout the race. When Muthu covered 1/2 the distance of the race, David was 3.5 km in front of her. David reached the finishing line at 10.45 a.m. What time did Muthu reach the finishing line?

                        thanks!
