Hi, need help with these 2 additional Qns:


1) Mrs Chan bought 450 similar handbags. She sold 5/9 of them at a selling price of $25 each and 1/2 of the remainder at a discount of 30% of the selling price. She sold the rest of the handbags at the original price. She made a loss of $1975. What was the original price of each hangbag?

2) David and Muthu took part in a cycling race.
David cycled at a speed of 20 km/h. Both of them did not change their speed throughout the race. When Muthu covered 1/2 the distance of the race, David was 3.5 km in front of her. David reached the finishing line at 10.45 a.m. What time did Muthu reach the finishing line?

1) A car and a lorry left Town X at 1045 and travelled towards Town Y which was 352 km away. The lorry took 4 hrs to reach Town Y. The average speed of the car was 22 km/h faster than the lorry. At what time did the car reach Town X?

2) At 1030h, Ben started travelling from Town A torwads Town B. At the same time, Chandra started travelling from Town B towards Town A. Town A and Town B were 195 km apart.
Ben travelled at an average speed that was 15 km/h more than Chandra's average speed. They met each other at 1330h. What was Ben's average speed?

Assuming that David continues to cycle at same speed after reaching finishing line, then when Muthu reached the finishing line, David would be
3.5 km x 2 = 7 km ahead

7km ÷ 20 km/h = 21 min --> David would have cycled for another 21 min when Muthu reached the finishing line.

Muthu reached the finishing line 21 min after 10.45 a.m. --> 11.06 a.m.

Hi, can someone pls help with these qns:


1) Kelly and Tom started walking from the same starting point but in the opposite directions along a straight path. Kelly’s average speed was 4 km/h faster than Tom’s. After walking for 3 hrs, they were 40 km apart. What was kellly’s average speed?

2) in a class library, there are some fiction and non fiction books. If we remove 1 non fiction book from the library, 1/7 of the remaining books are non fiction books. If, instead of removing 1 non fiction book, we remove 2 fiction books from the library, then 1/5 of the remaining books are non fiction books. How many books are there in the class library? Thanks.
