About who bears the cost, what about those in insolation in CDC? Do you hv to pay for the hospitalisation or is it on highly subsidised rate? Can pay thru Medisave/Medishield?
All I can think of is that if my family of three get infected and all three got to be hospitalised, what would the bill size be? -

MOE side heard they maybe extending the school holidays for one more week and news maybe announced tomorrow. Hope these MOE kids who are / will be travelling to affected areas will all return prior to the extended holidays end instead of extending their holidays there for one more week and that will defeat the purpose…
If the school holidays get extended, I pray that those \"boh chap\" parents don't take the opportunity to extend or make another short trip during the extended week of holidays.
:thankyou: insider for keeping us informed without having to read up on the MOE, MOH, MCYS websites. -
I just contacted a staff and told her to stay away for another 7 days as she just came back from Australia. Another staff is away in Japan and she will have to stay away for another 7 days too when she is back.
The question about who will bear the additional leave was addressed as well. Yes the staff was not too happy that she will have to utilise her annual leave for the LOA but she has to understand that she took the risk to go to these affected countries. And while she is on LOA, her colleagues have to double up to back her up which means OT, which the company will bear. And we all keep our fingers crossed that these will be the full extent of the implications of travelling to these affected countries. -
oh, no! My son is taking O level exam this year. If they extend the school holiday, how are they going to finish the syllabus and have enough time for revision ?

-
at the moment they are talking about extending 1 week. I think not that bad right? Moreover, the 1st week after the school hols are usually quite lax. And schools are also uploading lessons and assignments to gear up for e-learning so that the 1 week will not be completely gone to waste. The rest, think schools will just make up that 1 week with additional classes on Saturdays or makeup during the afternoons.

I wonder why they don’t come up with some rules to "bar" returning students from affected areas from going to school for 7 days (calc from date of return) ? With major exams in the last quarter of the year, we don’t want to have this risk of outbreak in schools…(imagine key teachers also kena quarantined. during critical exam preparation period…!)

Dun tink so. That applies to HQO. But for LOA no mention. If you manage to find anything about LOA leave are to be borne by employer, pls let me know.Funz:

I frowned upon staff who still want to travel to affected areas despite knowing themselves that the full implication of any of them bringing H1N1 into the centre (very difficult to front the parents if this happens. We are not 'ordinary' staff working in an office but staff working in an environment that may contain more than a hundred/thousand families).
Anyway, when serving staff LOA, what I understand is that the leave is supposed to be taken as hospitalisation leave (did you read it from somewhere else that LOA will be borne by the staff?). In order for staff to bear this extended LOA, you may want to approve staff leave only if they are agreeable to apply for 5 more days of leave upon their return, else leave will not be approved to protect yourself in the event that upset staff shoot up to MOH.
Yah I agree with the staff going to affected countries thing. But it is also not possible to tell the staff you cannot go especially when their plans were made way before all these happened. And right up till the day b4 this staff flew off, Aust was not that badly affected. Ask them to cancel their plans, the who will bear the cost the cancellation as well? Haiz damn if you do and damn if you don't. But now the the June hols is drawing to an end, such issues will be minimised. -
I really hope that school will closed for another week just for precautions but till now still no news from MOE yet. I was quite worried as My girl had classmates just returned from Japan & Hongkong.
Is there a rule for those returning from affected areas no matter whether there is any sysptoms "MUST" STAY AT home for 7 days before going out ? I hope it does but why there is still so many people going out after coming back from affected areas ?
