DSA should be scrapped. Just keep those DSA via CCAs will do.

It will resolve a lot of issues.

I think if MOE decides to scrap off DSA, they have to communicate very clearly to the GEP parents during the briefing at P3. Any changes in these 3 years will definitely cause a lot of unhappiness and frustrations to the current parents whose child is in the program.

I think if they scrap DSA, a lot of GEP parents would seriously reconsider putting their children in GEP liao.

All IP schools are very good including all top banded non-IP schools. MOE does not short-change u. Yr thinking that yr kids' dream schools are the best may or may not be right yrs down the road.

Who's to say that the co on hand is not the best choice?
Fully agreed. Who's to say that the co on hand is not the best choice?

I just thought GEP was a good programme to bring out her potential. The things I know now. 😉

Should DSA via academic route continue?

                  - For every child who missed the school’s COP slightly, (it is no doubt he/she feels disappointed because if not for so many places taken up by DSA students, he/she would have made it), there is another lucky one who accepted DSA offer but ended with a PSLE score slightly lower than the school’s COP.
                  - For every child who accepted a CO from a school which was not his/her top choice school and not allowed a switch through appeal after getting very high PSLE score (it is no doubt he/she feels disappointed), the school would be glad that its resources and efforts put into DSA process was not wasted. Another appeal student with a slightly lower PSLE score would also be glad to be successful in his/her appeal.
                  - For every child who is disappointed with the stricter rule regarding making a change after accepting CO, there is another person, perhaps in the WL, would be glad that his/her WL is now more likely to be converted to CO since less who were offered CO would accept them. There are also others who would then be successful in their DSA applications to their dream schools (some of these schools are considered 2nd best by those top students, yet they still apply in order to get more COs to play safe, hence depriving other deserving students the DSA offer, and worse, resulting in some of these schools ending up with very few DSA students eventually going there, making a mockery of the entire DSA process for these schools)

Hence it really depends on which perspective one looks at it. Personally, I think DSA via academic route still serves its purpose for both the students and the schools offering them. I can understand the agony of those affected children/parents if this is the first year they are taking the CO acceptance seriously, but most of us agree it is the right thing to do and to be fair, many IP schools did caution the parents/students before they make their acceptance decisions, as shared by many in this forum.

what do they have to lose? is the sole purpose of GEP -> IP?

perhaps we can also scrap GEP :imcool:
