      zakashi:
Who actually mark the GEP paper?

Should be school teachers, but send to GEB for moderation to ensure consistency amongst the GEP schools.

Must pass both papers? 70% each? What happen if a child scored above 70% for one of the papers but the other paper is below 70%?

Huh? Not sure what you mean but the passing mark for subjects in gep is 70% for each subject, but i think social studies only 50%. At end of term or year, if a child scores below that, believe the teachers will ask the child to attend extra classes.

Now I must also clarify which GEP paper Zakashi is talking about - is it the GEP P4-P6 test papers or the GEP screening paper for P3? :scratchhead:

The marking scheme I mentioned refers to GEP P4-P6 test papers. I don't know about the marking of the GEP screening paper for P3.

Very sorry. I am referring to P3 GEP screening and selection for round 1. Thanks.

Round 1 will be marked by school teachers.

I dont think anyine knows the selection. Ds1 had classmates who didnt complete the paper but they got into round 2. Recall those days someone mention that there could be dummy questions for which there is no consequence. In any case, just take as another day. If child gets the letter, just go look see, dont get, continue as normal.

Btw they dont release how many marks or right/wrong questions the child got.

This year GEP, strangely many commented English is easy and Math is very easy, at least from my DS’s class. I believe standard will be raised since this year GEP is too easy. Even students from mixed abilities classes find both papers easy.

Over the past years, those who find English easier than Math will normally go to round 2. It does not matter if cannot complete Math paper but the kids definitely need to complete English paper in order to have higher chance of getting into the selection round. In conclusion, students who are powerful in vocabulary will benefit. Son says most words were being taught in P1 and P2. There are only a few that looks alien to him.
