Hi angga888 - Your child is definitely a real born genius. She is the exact type of student MOE is filtering for. I always doubtful how could a p3 child manages such difficult screening test without any preparation and exposure before the test. No way for an ordinary adult to make it.. It all boils down to smart and intelligent guess work to response to difficult situations and problems solving skill. I don’t believe there is luck element into it.

I guess the next question is if there is a connection with the GEP child n he/hers super smart parents. The gifted genes running in the family will make the success chance higher. Are there any success cases which parents are not really gifted?

My child definitely has no potential. He needs a few rounds of explanation before comprehend the concept especially in MO.[/quote]
Thank you Smelly Socks. To be honest, if I were to sit on the GEP test , 101% I won't get selected 😂

I have a younger son who is in P1 going to P2. My younger son is not so Math inclined, so I need to help explaining some concepts, sometimes few times to make him understand. My younger son is more inclined in language and music.

Genes wise, both myself & my wife are just commoners, no special achievement during childhood.. Maybe other parents can share ?

Just to share a bit, my eldest son was assessed at 2% cognitive from the bottom when he was 2 years old, because he simply couldn't do what a typical 2 year old can do.. We were heartbroken back then.. When reaching 4 years old, he started catching up many of his deficits and started to show unusual inclination in Math & logics. Looking back, my hope for him was just to live a normal & happy life, never in our wildest dream to think he will go into GEP one day.. So always believe in your child, each child (and your child) is born with unique talent 🙂

Hi angga888. My child is just like yours. Was slower in beginning, had speech delay, then started to pick up especially in Math and logic. But I did send him for MO training and he participated in some contests this year. He is also weaker in English. Hopefully he can cope with GEP’s enriched curriculum in English and benefits in Math and science.

I’m staying in Woodlands. Any carpooling service for Rosyth school. Or maybe carpooling service to / from Woodlands / Sembawang / Yishun. PM me asap, thanks!

My child will be joining the GEP program in SHPS as he’s already there. I don’t know much about the program, but I can say that it’s a very holistic school. There’s not much emphasis on tests, exams or scores. I hope it will still be the same even if he’s in the GEP program.

My boy just transferred to SHPS last year under GEP too. The class size is small, just 18 GEP students. I would say he enjoyed a lot.

Hi, may I know why P4 still has to be reallocated into new class in P5? These kids have just spent a year together only, barely know each other.

I guess the school prefers to group students by similar attributes / learning abilities into a smaller groups.

Than to make life in school more sociable.
