Hi all, kindly advise if dd or ds get into the GEP programme, a place in RGS or RI is a guarantee? Thanks.

Not at all. GEP does not have special bonus points at all. Read within these forums there are cases of many Geppers who cant meet the cutoff points or DSA (academics) too. GEP does not mean confirm will do very well in PSLE (although most will). More concerning is those who did special prep for GEP, which may inflate their abilities. These kids could struggle in GEP as well as PSLE syllabus.

If kid gets accepted to GEP, seriously do consider to accept, with main intent for the development of the kid, in an enhanced programme. -

If my son does make it through, I’ll seriously be scared to accept the GEP offer. Afraid he will be stressed and most importantly I’ll be stressed coz I’ll feel like I have to help him and support him all the way. Oh well! Maybe I’m just being paranoid ! Honestly I don’t know. Will just wait for the results and then think about it.

I have the same concern with you too. The syllabus is different from mainstream syllabus and with lots project.. They may not have much time for revision. Down the road, PSLE result still the core entry to good secondary school. Whether to allow them stay back at current mainstream school, focus in PSLE preparation or GEP (more projects based but so called the \"gifted\".) Of course, their mental health whether being overly stress or play time as a child is a concern too .
