PCF/PAP Kindergartens

I was pleasantly surprised when my girl told me that her Chinese teacher at her PCF kindergarten gave her a dictionary !
It is a English to Chinese, and Chinese to English dictionary. Not those kiddy types, no pictures at all. It is about 6 to 8 cm thick !
My girl said that her teacher's friend had excess stocks, so her teacher gave every child in the class a dictionary.
I am so impressed ! I never have a teacher who gave me a dictionary before. I bought a Chinese dictionary for myself when I was in P2, and that was the best tool for me to learn Chinese

Hi Tamarind, so impress by your child PCF. May I know which PCF did she attend?[/list]

She attends the PCF kindergarten at 662B Jurong West
Her English teacher Jenny, is one of the best pre-school teacher I have every encountered. She is soft spoken, yet very firm, and able to effectively discipline all the 18 children in the class. Her teaching style is excellent, she exposes the children to a wide range of topics from space to disabilities, etc. She handles children with a wide range of abilities very well. If there is a best pre-school teacher award, I will certainly vote for her !
I don't know her Chinese teacher Miss Lin very well, because she only started to teach them this year. I spoke to her yesterday during the parents-teacher meeting, and I find her very pleasant.
Yesterday I found out from Teacher Jenny that they are going to teach multiplication and division after the June holidays. They certainly prepare the children very well for P1

Hi Tamarind
Thanks for the info. Ive just called 662B on the registration coming up and was told that it was full. Now in a dilemma on which other branch to place her. -
Hi Tamarind
Very impressed indeed as the same thing didn't happen in the PCF in Pasir Ris. I was really in a shock when my kids moved to P1 as they were struggling to cope, especially with Chinese. I didn't send them to any enrichment class during their kindergarten days.
By the way, how do you teach your kids phonics or where do you send them? I'm very poor in this area myself. -

I sent my older girl to Montessori phonics enrichment class near Lakeside MRT. I taught my younger boy at home.
Check out my blog about how to teach phonics.
