just want to comment on PCF at Tampines. I can understand that sometimes the teacher might need time off therefore would show the kids cartoon. But I think SPONGEBOB squarepants should be the last cartoon to show to kids? The cartoon teach words like "stupid, idiot and dumb" with alien and weird stuff. My DS been in nursery since Jan, other than the initial separation anxiety, she had no issue going to school until recently, she refused to go or cry upon reaching, cause she said she doesn’t want to watch spongebob again. Even though the teacher promised not to show it again, but that already left a negative experience for her. Sigh.

              Hi,

I am a new member and my daughter is currently studying at BLK 468 PAP. I read some forum about K1 education level and found out that most of the K1 students are taught phonetic, reading and writing and they need to complete their homework. By comparing this, my daughter never bring any homework since day 1 and she can barely read and worst of all she cant write in full sentence. I feel so stress after reading some mummy’s kids who can do both at age 5.

Instead of feeling stressed, why not spend time teaching your child how to read and write instead? Parents have a role to play to ensure their children can read and write too. Usually those children who are reinforced by parents at home, cope better academically.

                    Hi mommies,

I am new to this forum. I'm thinking of sending my first daughter to PCF admiralty BLK 561. Just want to find out in advance if anyone has experience sending their child to this centre or to any PCF kindergarten in general.

Overall, how are the teachers there. And how are the programs taught to the child in PCF compared to others like my first skool. How do the teachers there communicate with the parents in general?

Thanks in advance for any reply 😄

Parents should visit the schools of choice personally with the child to see if your child likes it. Generally, having a school with air-con classrooms are much better due to the haze conditions in Singapore. Usually it is better to send a preschoolers to school in afternoon as the child will get sufficient sleep of 11 hours before the child goes to school fresh and alert in the afternoon as compared to morning session children who are always in a daze (half-awake)
