All schools have miscellaneous fees of one form or another. Some charge more, some charge less.

during her time, they only needed to pay $5 for the locker for yr 1
as DHS said that they subsided for yr 1 pupils. -

We came up with the idea ourselves.
They had a get together for parents at end of orientation week. When compiling the contact number/email for parents, someone came up with the idea of a facebook group, which is more convenient and probably a better way of communication compared to mass emails. ACSI parents very 'on' leh. Wish I can do the same at my ds's school.
Maybe next time you go to RI for events, you can get in touch with your DS's classmates' parents and start a facebook group or exchange email/contact details too.
Anyone in the same class as your DS in KSP?
DD is in the same class as Funx3's & hipomum's DDs so we also email one another to keep ourselves updated on the class activities.

So far, DD has not asked for any money for the rental.
Will update when I have the info.
RGS charges $15/year for rental of locker and $8 to buy a locker padlock.
This will form part of the 'supplementary fee & other fee' payment, to be deducted by Giro on the 15 Feb.
