Yes. H1 Econs has a smaller syllabus but it is to your disadvantage.

Both H1 & H2 Economics will cover Miro-Economics and Marco-Economics. H1 will remove certain topics in Miro & then Marco. Basically it means that they would not directly test you on these topics. However, learning them can aid your understanding of other topics as well as write better essays in examinations.

For economics, the more knowledge you have the better. Therefore, taking H2 is more "value" for time.

        IMHO

Please also consider whether you’re really interested in Econs. Don’t just go with the flow. Just because most people take it means you must take it too.

One very "practical" consideration: The difference in content between H1 and H2 Econs really comes down to one big chapter in J1. Most of the rest of the content is the same. In terms of exam format, H1 Econs has 2 less 45 minute essays to write than H2, and that’s about it.

So depending on your CCA commitments etc, you may want to weigh the amount of content you have to cover vs other H1 subjects, assuming you don’t have the option / don’t want to do 4 H2s.
