For MOE to say \"All Schools Are Good Schools\", I beg to differ as far as academic results are concerned. It is like saying \"All Principals Are Good Principals\" - if they are not good, then how can they be promoted to be principal. But is it a fact that all of them are competent??

      :goodpost:

But MOE never claimed 'All Students are good student (academically)' mah 😆

Think we been thru this before.... 😉[/quote]There should be some good students in every school even if not all the students in that school are good.

what is the affiliation cut-off at SJI? How many pri school are affiliated? :scratchhead:

No affiliation for IP programme but only for \"O\" level programme. This is the same for all IP programmes in the other schools.

Ya, I know and I remember janet was only aiming at O track.

          Looking at the booklet.
          Affiliation to SJI
COP 238-265 : De La Salle Sch, St. Anthony, SJI Junior , St Stephen (4 Sch)
          Non affiliation : 242 - 270

          ACSI
COP 235-266 : ACS Pri, ACS Junior (2)
          Non affiliation : 247-267

Wah. Both Sch dun play play. Not that easy. Assuming non-affiliation also must ~248 to be safe. Can aim this kind of Sch means standard around there.
Like I said, Janet's son not at all that jialat!!

Now I finally realised & agree.
And here I am, happily thinking my DS not bad one. The joke is, DS also should be around this range also 😓 Look like the username 'becontented' really suits me :rotflmao:

There should be some good students in every school even if not all the students in that school are good.

Agree, but the distribution will be very diff from the better schools.
You will probably notice that for some estates, no matter how u change the principals and teachers, there's still limited improvements.

Hopefully, better flowthrough of and easier access to learning resources will help those who don't have access to parent support and good quality tuition. :xedfingers:

I seem to be agreeing to Nebbermind today........ 😉
                  3% vs 30-40% or 10 vs 200. BIG difference

Hence, it is important for parents to do their part and not rely solely on the school. But, it helps that the school is proactive in wanting to improve its academic standing and teachers who are dedicated. Luckily, my DS' form teacher is very dedicated but unfortunately, my DD who is in P3, her form teacher is too laid back for my comfort. :slapshead: :stupid:

Or just have to take a look and compare the activities in pri school parents network section…are all parents as KS?

Not that branded schools will have more KS parents but rather, the distribution of KS parents varies drastically…it’s not ‘equally random’.

That's my understanding of the allocation system too. What I did with my daughter last year was to select 2 'hopeful' schools, 2 'reasonable chance' schools, and another 2 'sure' schools. This way, we got to choose all the 6 schools and not have the possibility that she got sent to a school we didn't select because all the choices aimed too high.
You are talking about selection after the PSLE results?

My suggestion is for those who want to do something now before the PSLE release, ie, select a possible range, say, 230~260 and then select 2~3 for each 5-point interval. So by the time the results are released, u roughly know which are the schools you would choose. Just have to arrange them in the order of preference.
