Hi, need some advise on selecting sec. school. My ds has 252 +2. . We are staying in hougang area, and he is unable to decide between vs and cath high. He prefers vs a little over cath high, however distance is important too, which I guess it takes another 15 mins further for vs. Anybody can share any advise or experiences in these 2 schools? Appreciate so much.

        For score of 248+3

Will it be risky to put SCGS (o level) as 1st choice?
Am worried now as I read some where that cop for O level track for new ip school will be increased.
I need some advice please for my choice as follows
        1) SCGS o level
        2) St nick o level
        3) Cedar o level
        4) Anderson
        5) Nan Chiau
        6) Xinmin

        TIA

Both are good schools. However, VS is affiliated to VJC, which is better than CJC.

You have make your choices very wisely. COP for dual track schools will go up by 1 or 2 points. Top O level track students may switch to IP track in year 3 & 4.

CHS' IP is not partnered with CJC though.

My dd scored 232+2. My 1st 3 choices would be as follows:

                1. Ngee Ann Sec (COP: 233) May not make it. But if can, would it matters if my dd is in the last of the cohort? What's at stake? 5min walk from where we stay.
                2. Dunman Sec (COP:229)
                3. Temasek Sec (COP: 230)
                4.
                5.
                6.

For the remaining choices, we're contemplating on the below few schools in the East. They're:

Hai Sing Catholic (COP: 225) No clue on this school. Any comments? Affiliated to Catholic JC.
Bedok View (COP: 217) Will be in top of cohort.
St. Hilda's (COP: 228) No clue on this school. Any comments?
                Pasir Ris (COP: 221) DD teacher's told them \"better not choose\" :?
Nan Chiau High (COP: 236) SAP school. Risky, still out by 2pts after +2 in HCL.

We hope to hear more comments and recommendations on the above schools' choices before firming the final 6s.

                :thankyou:
Our initial final 6 would be (Final choices TBC):
                1. Ngee Ann Sec
                2. Dunman Sec
                3. Temasek Sec
                4. Pasir Ris Sec
                5. Hai Sing Sec
                6. St. Hilda's Sec

Any comments on our choices? My dd is having 2nd thought on the placement for 3rd & 4th choice due to traveling distance is further for Temasek Sec but I'm more incline to the above arrangement due to Temasek's better academic performance. Should I do the swap for the benefit of shorter traveling distance as we're staying nearer to Pasir Ris Sec?

My daughter score 238 + 1 . Any chance of getting into Nan Hua (COP 243 last year) if I appeal for her?

Miss by 4 pts (2011 COP:243), do you have anything to back you up. e.g. performing arts or sports. You may want to go down to the school and talk to the P/VP abt your chances.

The 6 choices of the school will be as follow:
                  1. Nan hua
                  2. Bukit pangjang
                  3. Commonwealth
                  4. Swiss cottage
                  5. Clementi town
                  6. Crescent girl

                  Advise pls

You are wasting your choice 6 and 2.

Base on last year COP, I would have my 6 choices:
                  1. Bukit panjang -6
                  2. Crescent girl -5
                  3. Nan hua (SAP) -4
                  4. Commonwealth +2
                  5. Fairfield +3
                  6. Swiss cottage +3

Unless you really wish to go NHHS, then you may remove no 1 and 2. and add another 2 choices.

I put Nan Hua as 1st choice as my DD reaaly wish to go to that school.

As for Bukit Pangjang and Crescent, i am hoping that COP will drop so that i can still appeal as it is in her choice of school. Why you put Fairfield above Swiss Cottage? Is it a better school?
In your scenario, most likely your daughter will end up in commonwealth. So be prepared to appeal and you must have a very strong case else the school might not consider you. As your choice of Crescent Girls, you might wish to shift it up to 3rd choice. Also, you might want to check with the schools if the order of choices you made does it in any way affect your appeal chances.

Actually, both Fairfield and Swiss are equally good in terms of COP. You can put it in any of the last 2 slots. To me, I just haven't heard anything about swiss after they moved out from Bt Timah. As for Fairfield, I just find the students quite well behave.

Chances of getting into a school that has much higher COP of points (3 points or more) is low. There are 3000 more kids taking PSLE this year comparing to last year.
