Secondary School Selection 2012

I will put both school ip as the choice first, follow by o level. The chances for ip could be slim. Seems to me vs more all rounder while cath more academic focus. Also not sure what it mean for cath. High that they have the flex. to choose their subject for sec 3 while vs side say their adv. is they go for pure science while other school is combi.ivy1589:
Hi, need some advise on selecting sec. school. My ds has 252 +2. . We are staying in hougang area, and he is unable to decide between vs and cath high. He prefers vs a little over cath high, however distance is important too, which I guess it takes another 15 mins further for vs. Anybody can share any advise or experiences in these 2 schools? Appreciate so much.
Are u looking at ip or o level? -

Yes, I know for St nick, I can add the 3 pts for better chance. However my dd prefer scgs and we are just at the cop based on last year. Hence now worried that she might not be able to get in.
At st nick, u can enjoy the 3 bonus points.Jasmy:
For score of 248+3
Will it be risky to put SCGS (o level) as 1st choice?
Am worried now as I read some where that cop for O level track for new ip school will be increased.

6) Xinmin

Is it advisable to put MS under which choice? I prefer ds in a mixed school for ds.
Maris stella?sanie:
My ds scored 232. My 1st 4 choices as follows:
1. TKSS (COP: 233) - Nearer to home, so near yet so far.
What's the chances of appeal?
2/3/4 Random Dunman Sec (COP:229) / Temasek Sec (COP: 230) & Hai Sing Cat (COP:225).
Which sch should I place for 2nd, 3rd & 4th based on the school?
I'm looking at Pasir Ris Crest also. What about 6th choice? -
Does anyone have any comments on ST Patrick, Geylang Methodist, Bowen and Mayflower. Are they good schools?

O Level track COP will go up as almost half of the places are reserved for IP Track. SCGS COP is 248, so will likely increase.
Yr DD has 248( can't use Bonus point), to get into SCGS is not confirmed.
Since yr DD scored Distinction for HMT, show her competency in her Mother Tongue. Well done!
Shd use 3 Bonus points. Yr DD will get into St Nicks.
FYI, most premier Schs only allow appeal if u put their Schs as First Choice.
Even if DD doesn't get into St Nicks, with 251 ( new COP will b quite close to 251) is easier to appeal compare to SCGS with 248 ( new COP may b a few points away fr 248). -
Hi all,
Need advices here. My son scored 221. We are contemplating the following choices:
1) Kuo Chuan
2) Beatty
3) Deyi
4) Guangyang
5) Holy Innocents
6) Bowen
Any comments/advices on the above choices? Staying in Yishun but will be shifting to Hougang in 1-2 years’ time. A
Many thanks!!
