This tutor this graduated from rjc.

I m not sure whether she is lying abt tutoring rgs/ri pupils.
But i think $40 an hour is very ex and i sat in for a couple of the lesson and i felt that the lessons were rather disorganised which is why i m require
for lesson plan. And the reply is if i want lesson plan then she rather not teach my kid.

            Hi Herbie :hi5:
Recently I casually approached my friend as I know that her brother-in-law is giving private tuition. Thinking that \"knowing\" someone is better than getting \"dont' know\" who to come to my place to tutor my DD1 for English only. She replied,\" My brother-in-law said to travel to your place is a bit far as he is staying in Woodlands and you are at Jurong West. So, his rate will be $40.00/hour and a minimum of 2 hours per lesson!\" :skeptical:

In my heart, I was like :? - so you charge by the distance you travel??

A lesson plan is an important element.

Without which, it is like going to a battle without a plan on how to defeat the enemy. End up, you will be defeated as you will only react to enemy fire.

Same for tuition classes, a proper lesson plan will ensure the students prepare themselves all-round, ready to ace the exam, regardless of how the questions are rephrased…

              Cheers…

I would not want to have this tutor too. With no planning, no notes, yr child just have to ask questions? What kind of lesson will this be? Every lesson needs to be planned, whether in schools, enrichment centres, private tutors, etc. And if your child has no questions that day then how? both of them stare at each other for an hour?

yup.. It is very exp......... Degree holder also don't charge this rate.. somemore she maybe only undergrad..

btw, what level and subject ar? Maybe for language you do need some lesson plan.. unlike science or maths just go thru the topics that the school is teaching now and coach accordingly..

at least i know it is not weird to ask for lesson plan.
I told my kid is just like u intend to fly to LA, the tutor ought to have to plan other how to fly to LA.

Btw, I just said bye bye to the tutor.
                    😄

a private tutor is a home tutor

lesson plan depends on the individual’s progress in class for the subject - it is a personal coaching session - not necessary to have a lesson plan - good enough to ensure the syllabus is followed and if there is a supplemental guide book for the subject / level, it will be helpful. the important thing is that the tutor / pupil must ensure that the topic at hand is thoroughly understood by the pupil

not the same as a tuition class where there is group teaching which must have a lesson plan - even then, individual students from different school may be at different pace and hence there must be time set aside for individual attention by the tuition teacher

for your own assurance, certain guidebook may be useful

i think the school textbooks have different amount of "meat" for the syllabus … eg, IMHO, "My Pals are here" is very skimpy compared with the ‘i’ series eg iScience …

Herbie, is the tuition for your elder or younger kid? No lesson plan is just like consultancy to me  Anyway, you know who to approach for Math/Physics (or special Math assignment)
