MPM Maths - Discussion

sean wife:
its poss to go to 4 boxes, if the class size is small, teacher is fast, child is fast. mine sometimes do 4. at kovan branch jelicFor jelic class, like to check how many boxes will your kid do in one lesson?
My gals (3yr3mth old) went for jelic trial at JE and I think they generally quite like it. I stayed in the classroom with them for a little while and they could finish the first box in about 10mins with minimal guidance…After we left and came back about 1 hour later (lesson time supposed to be 1 hr 15 mins), they were reading books in a corner and the teacher mentioned that they have completed 3 boxes without much problems, except they need help with opening the boxes…as they were on trial, they did not do the evaluation sheets, which the teacher say will fill up the rest of the time…
I’ll like to know, does your kid continue with more boxes till time is up, or they usually stop at 3 boxes? The fees are quite steep, so thought it will be good if kids who are faster can do more in one lesson. There are 450 boxes in all, so to complete all will take almost 4 years? -
Had a really bad experience with the MPM math branch in Simei. Students were having classes while the school allows birthday party to be held within their premises with rowdy childrens running around and shouting. Though i'm a faithful follower of MPM math and believe that it's method really work, but i also believe that a conducive learning environment is also important. :?:

Hi, any parent has their child in MPM centre in Queenstown?
Will like to have some ugent feedback.
Thank You!!! -
Hi, I realised that the quuenstown branch was new so maybe not alot of feedback then but generally does this MPM really help our child improve in their maths?

Hi blur mother
I’m too, like u, want a definite confirmation before enrolling MPM. But I do like this method somehow (not comparing any others).
My colleague’s son is doing MPM, join in P1 and currently in P2, she told me tat his son get confuse between the method use in school n MPM. But she still did not stop him, the only thing is she stop his class on the last term, ie during his exam. So I believe this is not a bad course. Within 1 year attending, his son can figure and do the solving faster than her.
Regards

Hi GSK, thank you very much for your feedback. I would like to enroll my child but they do not conduct any lesson on Sunday. Hai… …. Weekdays they are tired fr school and sat is filled with 2 classes already.
-
I see. Maybe u want to change the other 2 lessons to Sunday class, but check with MPM whether they hv the time slot available on Sat before changing.
I still dun know want to place him there, as he’s now attending CMA. Tinking of Enopi, at least it teaches both basic and critical, i need not teach him basic maths. Wanted too many things for him at one shot, will wait and see how, maybe after June…, must tell myself not to be too KS. -

Hi bjc, noticed this new school when visited popular last week. You talked to school abt d bad experience? Any action taken by d school authority. -
My boy is attending the MPM at Tampines CPF building and I thought of changing him over to Simei since its more convenient for me.
However, I didnt have a good feel about the new place so I decided to let him continue in Tampines. He is in P2 this year and scored 93 for his Math last year which I thought was quite alright since he is quite playful.
So best is for you to visit the centres and decide if you are comfy with it.
