I tot mpm materials,not e books,r allowed to b kept since they make us pay material fees?i duno abt jelic bt is it useful?dun wana get psycho by staff.prefer to hear frm neutral parties.
Hw r classes at jelic?same as mpm?individualized? -

By individualised, do you mean progress according to the child's pace? Yes, but if there are areas that need reinforcement, the teacher will seek parents' help to work with the child. I find that my son's concentration level is better and he is more interested in reading. There's an activity on language. Of course his improvement can be a related to a mixture of other factors as well.
I find that young kids learn better when they are able to work with the materials in 3D. So I enrolled my DS in Jelic. I find the teachers are important too. My DS's teacher is patient with him. While for my DD, she needs a firm hand and her MPM teacher is able to get through to her. I will receive feedback when there's any area that I need to address with my kids.
Did you have a chance to look at the materials for Jelic and MPM? If you do not like them or do not believe in their effectiveness, there are other maths enrichment centres that you can check out.
There are certain things I look out when I'm selecting enrichment classes and I like this program. -

My DD1 has not reached book 72 yet. My DD1 completed Book 36. She was sick last wk, so this wk should go on to 37, 38, 39 ba.
If your DD is at K2, the teacher will give workbook appropriate for that stage. If your DD is advanced learner, then the teacher should inform you as well. -

Yes mine also very flexible. My child completes 4 books within a week, as he attends 2 times per week. The child will complete half of the book and the rest of the pages to be done at home. It really depends on the teacher and also the child's ability and interest.
IMO, cramping too many books will tend to kill the joy of learning. Minimum 2 books per week is good enough. Stop only when the child likes it, so that they will yean to do better the next time or looking forward to the next lesson. Just like flashcard effects.
wanting to put my ds on an enrichment program for the longest time but cun get a suitable 1...onto brain/ math training, din really believe in jelic but after reading comments, should try huh?
ur younger or older is on the program? jelic or mpm?
if they allow the child to progress and not just stick to 1book per lesson if child is able to complete fast, then i dun mind trying...
can share more on the materials? are there similar instruments used like in shichida?i saw some photos...seems like abit of similarities -
Oh! ok just trying to find out what is the norm. When I look through the book for 71 & 72, looks quite simple. Then I ask teacher can skip book or not, she said not reccommended leh.

Hi bigsnoopy, some of the worksheet are rather simple esp on the additions n no. bonding…however for some of the worksheet, they still required the child to think which is good…I think teacher will assess the child regularly n if the child can skip some books, she will definitely recommend it… As the child proceeds, the level of difficulty will increase…u can see the difference from the workbook yr child is doing…

Do you mean when you compared with the 30s and the 70s, the 70s are easier or have the question progressed? -

Sorry for being kaypo, though your question is directed to laughingcat but I’m butting in becos I sent my DD1 to shichida before too.Through my search I have found that many educational toys / program are rather similar or can be traced to similar starting point. So it’s not surprising that you find similarities between Jelic and shichida. BUT for shichida, the focus is on right brain training. They train on photomemory, speed reading, imaging, intuition, foreign language, fine motor skills, flashcards, etc. My DD1 was with them for 1y starting when she was 2.5yos. But when I was preg with number 2 I find it hard to continue. Now with 3 kids, it’s impossible for me to go with them. Plus everyday we need to work with the kids to see results. Of course I stopped when my DD1 was 3.5 yos, so I’m not able to share what shichida has for older kids.
But I still believe in right brain training so now I’m using home-based materials from US which is more suitable for my situation.
Jelic/MPM and shichida are very different in their emphasis, so depends what you are looking in an enrichment prog. Sorry couldn’t help being kaypo. -

Actually when I 1st enroll, I don't know wat numbervthe book is leh. When I start to realize the book got no, DD alrdy at 60+ so I also don't know got skip or not. The books she is doing now for addition is v. Simple. Like addition within 10.bigsnoopy:
